I wonder if it will drop alongside the rumoured iPhone fold. What a year to mark the 20th anniversary that would be.

Excited to hear more about the 20th anniversary model. Will surely be different! Looking forward to seeing the new software and also all the rumors regarding the anniversary model in the coming months.

OK...? So there's the super-thin one coming this year. Then there's the three-screen folding one that's coming out whenever (2026?). Then there's a magic transparent iPhone coming in 2027?
These can't all be factual, right?
Or is Apple just copying the "Chinese Android Manufacturer" playbook and throwing everything at the wall?

is anyone else fascinated by the absolute collapse of what used to be an extremely secretive culture at Apple? rumors used to be exactly that, rumors; now we just get a play-by-play of everything that will happen, weeks if not months in advance, by way of Gurman. like, does anyone remember when the pic of an iPad stapled down to a table made the rounds mere hours before the keynote? how crazy that was? let alone what happened with iPhone 4. idk I know I sound like the most “back in my day” boomer ass ever I just miss having a shred of mystery to these keynotes
I think it's quite intentional. It's hard for tech companies nowadays to keep the hype and talk going. Especially Apple who is playing catch up and is by far among the least interesting companies on the playing field currently. It looks like leaks, but the speculation benefits them by keeping them in the media. I still find mystery and surprise in the keynotes because everything is a lot more tastefully executed than the leaks make things out to be. And there's always a surprise that feels like a huge plot twist. I think there were no rumors regarding eyesight on the vision pro and I remember the introduction and how shocking that reveal was, even though we knew pretty much everything else about it.

I have a half TB iPhone 15 Pro Max, and it’s so capable that the Sept 2027 iPhone is definitely my next phone. And I used to get yearly updates for like 6 years in a row.

From flat to curve and then Liquid Glass Design! What is Apple planning to do? But maybe with VisionOS they will release something extraordinary!

I share your sentiments; but I bet if you didn’t come to this forum, or watch YouTube, you’d have your “shred of mystery”. It’s just an evolving information age.

so now we know what next year’s Samsungs are going to look like.
Samsung has had displays that bend around curved edges for years, and apple fans mocked them saying they were impractical. Of course when Apple will do it with years of delay it will be the best thing after sliced bread :D

Bezels are meant to protect from accidental taps.
Bezels are not meant for anything, they just exist due to technical limitations. Protection from accidental taps can easily be achieved in software as it's done on iPad for example by having an are near the edges where information can be shown (or just decoration like background etc) but not intractable buttons etc exist.

Weird thing to say. It's how Apple implements things that makes their devices better than Samsung's. Samsung's curved screen served no real purpose, made no difference. Just like all cars have wheels, but not all cars are the same, Apple's take on curved edges (not only on the sides, but top and bottom too) would be jaw dropping and everyone would want to copy it.

That mock-up is really nice. I miss the shiny metal enclosures.

Not excited for curved edges though.

If Apple is going to go back to some previous design or technology for the 20th anniversary models, I would much prefer that they try to make sapphire screens. I stupidly took off the screen protector (that I had on since day one) on my 15 Pro Max and in less than a week, I had several visible scratches. Yet the watches I own with sapphire and take more abuse, have zero scratches.

They better not do curved glass again it makes screen protectors a nightmare

When did they do it on phones the first time???

Lol wut

You mention “in software” but then shift towards discussing hardware “intractable buttons”…what you say fascinates me but I’m just looking for clarity and specifics, if possible.

If you’re whining about Apple’s rumor mill spoiling the magic, maybe stop gobbling up every Gurman leak like it’s your morning coffee. You can’t crave the mystery while binge-reading the spoilers. Pick a lane.

omg hey, a response that isn't basically telling me to gtfo this website! 🤣 this is some pretty wise insight, I can see how in an age where tech culture has become a decent bit like pop culture, the "hype machine" is something Apple would want to engage with for the sake of relevancy. (pop stans go craaazyyy for leaks…) hadn't thought about how it really could be a cultural shift in the company away from secrecy and…maybe not into "leak this as fast as possible," but like, "let's let these things slip just to keep interest."

for all the folks who did basically tell me to gtfo this website…to the point of everything I just said about interest in leaks, I'm still coming back lmao! mainly to engage in some lighthearted dialogue with other folks who share my passion for this company and its products. so thank you for this response. <3

I can’t be the only one who feels that Apple’s practice of offering “superior hardware but inferior software” from iPad is seeping into the iPhone.

Curved glass edges? Didn't they have that on the iPhone 11?
Curved as in the OLED display curves over to, and continues across the four edges of the phone, like the image in the article.

Presumably at this point there’ll also be a low power camera (or mode on an existing camera) which continuously passes through whatever is behind the phone to be displayed on the screen so that, through the liquid glass interface, it looks like the phone is a transparent piece of glass.

Sort of like EyeSight on the Vision Pro 😀

Have Samsung ever curved the display around all four edges and corners? As far as I’m aware they only ever curved the display over the left and right sides.
