Wish it would fix my HomePod. It randomly starts playing. Didn’t happen before iOS 26 but that could be a coincidence. Already reset it a few times. Nothing helps.
All you mentioned are bugs. Nothing that will make your iPhone unusable. The person I responded to made it seem like so much suffering will befall those who install the beta. This is just hyperbole that is pushed every year by those who are tentative.
Those are bugs that could cause real problems under critical circumstances. And a beta 2 doesn’t come out for 2-3 weeks after that.
The alternative is setting everything up from scratch, and most people don’t have the technical skills to do that and/or are cautious enough to create a backup first.
You’re assuming typical scenarios, I’m specifically talking about cases where these “bugs” actually matter. You give people a lot of credit but that’s not my experience here. Just less than 2 weeks ago there was a post asking about the process to revert to a prior version.
No one who doesn’t have the skills to find their way to a working phone without help should be installing a beta 1.
A first dev beta of a major revision will be “perfectly fine”? Couldn’t be further from the truth.
First betas break banking apps, have terrible battery life, and alarms not going off. Would you like me to continue with the list of all the bugs reported over the past few revisions?
This is exactly, why it is called "Developer Beta". It is to be used on non productive devices to test the new OS.
There are bugs to eliminate and this happens best, if Apple does not do the tests on 3 devices "in house".
And believe me: They are listening and reacting to reports.
..I cannot confirm any of your experiences with any beta, I was testing btw.
Why do you care?
Also what exactly is your suggestion?
It used to be very difficult to get the Betas pre-iOS 10 or so.
You had to have a paid Developer account and your device had to be registered with Apple…
And yet people still installed it on their primary devices, Youtubers still posted videos going through it, it really wasn’t the deterrent you think it would have been.
Personally, I say the more people the better.
Many of these people simply shouldn't yet be using it - the public beta is for them
It annoys me to see ton of Youtube videos and social media posts demoing feature X/Y/Z and criticising it because it doesnt work as it's supposed to.... when it's Developer Beta 1.
I dont care less if they brick their phones or cause themselves issues - but when they present the software publicly as faulty then they just look stupid.
I still feel like I’m on beta with the current ios. I can’t even fathom how bad the new beta is going to be. My poor 16 pro will over heat if I just wake it up.
