iOS 27 beta regrets [MERGED]

Well, after the first day, battery has stabilized and - indeed - seems to last longer than on 26.

I also found that, despite the removal of the refraction around the icon edges, and it's also dependent on background image color and brightness, there is a subtle but impressive glass reflection from inside the icon when you wiggle the phone about. It's growing on me. I still miss the icon shadow detail (e.g. the phone icon now all white instead of a gray/white gradient), but it's all growing on me.

I did see a bug, the eBay notification overlay is black text on black background and it's consistent, so I'll have to report that... still appears in the newly released Beta 4...

And another bug, when on lock screen and bringing up the PIN pad, the screen "flashes" instead of fades. It's random, and I need to articulate the description better before submitting. But with the latest beta now released, this one may have been fixed.

I get the frustration, especially when you already have a whole Apple setup and the updates feel like they’re always pushing you toward newer hardware. I’d probably stop chasing every new feature for a while and only upgrade when the device actually stops doing what you need. For things like Siri and photo cleanup, I’d also give the software a few updates before making a buying decision since Apple tends to roll features out gradually. If your current iPhone, iPad and HomePods still handle your everyday stuff well, there’s really no reason to replace them just because the newest AI features are missing.

Can’t stand the blur effect at top of screen when using safari or Reddit. Least in ios26 it was a fade and writing was legible. Now I’ve lost some screen real estate.

What did you really lose? Blurring starts at the status bar that’s already occupied by all the info. This is much better than the status bar elements switching between black and white based on the content which was quite distracting.
Unless you’re reading from those few pixels above the DI, it’s the same.

With the fade effect used prior to iOS 27 I could still view what was under and above the status bar. Now with this blur effect it might as well be a border up top.

This new public beta really sucks. Siri was AMAZING in the last PB, in this one she became real dumb again real fast. Asking her when the next A line train is from my location got me my next airline reservation.

Also autocorrect is back to being ****.

Yeah auto correction globally is a mess.
