iOS 27 Fixes Justin Bieber's Problem in Messages App

But that dictation button does not need to be *inside* the typing field and *also* at the bottom right of the keyboard. I agree remove it from the typing field.

Unlike most 3rd-party apps, those apps actually have quite a lot of important settings in their Settings app page and I need to access them somewhat frequently. And the only easy way to get to them is to search in the settings app - scrolling through a huge app list to find them is way too slow and annoying!

This is because people can replace them with a third party app now, and it helps them avoid claims, especially in regions like the EU, that they’re monopolizing the App Store by giving their apps preferential treatment in any way. These settings used to be in the main settings section.

Apple could easily address this by putting a link to the settings page inside Safari itself, when you pull up the menu.

You can thank the EU for that. They want to exert so much control over software makers and insist upon no apps getting preferential treatment, and the result is it has ruined the experience for users.

Ideally, Apple could let us favorite certain apps to have them listed at the top.

Personally, I just search nearly everything I use on ios. If it's not on my lock screen, I just swype down from the middle and type away.

Who says Apple fixed this because of Bieber? They may have received thousands of complaints and decided to add a toggle. No Bieber required.

I think we all know that the odds are high they did this because of Bieber making the problem known. If he hadn't made that tweet, we'd probably just get a nicer looking microphone icon or something.

Alright, so apparently we needed far more celebrities shouting at Apple about bugs and sloppy placement lol
 
Finally a compelling reason to upgrade! On my small iPhone 16 I hit that stupid button at least once a day.

Thank the EU bureaucrats for forcing this non-priority placement concept. Even if you want convenience, it’s apparently anti-competitive to allow you that convenience.

The question is, how the heck did it end up in there in the first place? Who is designing this, and how are they getting feedback on this before moving onto alpha and beta releases?

Considering that Tim Cook is the CEO of Apple, this is not a surprise. On the 50th anniversary of Apple’s founding, Cook made sure that there was far more focus and attention given to world-famous pop musician celebrities than to Apple’s only two living founders, Ronald Wayne and Steve Wozniak, both of whom received practically no focus and no attention.

Another way would be to have them appear at the top of the apps list by default, but allow the apps in that section to be edited/removed by users. That should satisfy any claims of special treatment for Apple's apps.

I can understand not wanting to put settings directly in apps like Safari, as adding another icon would add clutter to the app for something that most users only need to access rarely (if ever).
