I hope they make it a little easier to remove it from the lock screen after you use it. The only solutions I've seen at the moment are pretty convoluted.

Wish you could assign two Siri Remotes to one Apple TV box. Maybe there's a limitation with Bluetooth that prevents it, who knows.
Instead, I use a 3rd party remote as a 2nd remote and they kinda suck.

What use case do you have ?
You have your computer in front of your TV, and want to control your TV with it ? I believe this is a laptop because you need a touch-based device ?
I think this need would be way too niche...

I just need to be able to use the remote option on the iPhone without the excessive and ridiculous take over of Airplay. It's a nightmare to get my iPhone to go back to playing media through the iPhone's speakers. I hate it and it's awful

Now, Apple has provided a detailed explanation about its decision. In an interview with Good Morning America, Apple's VP of Apple TV marketing said that majority of Apple TV users already have an (older) iPhone from their previous iPhone purchases and this is the reason why the company decided to remove the accessories from the Apple TV box.
"People often already have an (old) iPhone. It's sitting around in their house. They have multiple ones. And so, it was kind of not the right thing to do in terms of the larger environmental goals and the larger benefits to the environment," Shannon Willett, VP Apple TV marketing told the publication.

I wish the illustration was representative of real life remote design. Our Apple TV remote buttons are not made of Liquid Glass.
I’ll second this. I am using a Roku stick in the living room because it allows multiple remote pairing (I have 3 paired to it currently). I’d replace it with an Apple TV if it could do the same.

Starting with iOS 27, the virtual Apple TV remote can be added to the iPhone's Home Screen again, rather than being limited to Control Center. To do so, swipe down on the Home Screen and search for "remote." Next, tap and hold on the Remote app and drag it to your Home Screen. Alternatively, you can find it in the App Library.

I’m not following why an Apple TV needs to pair with 3 remotes to be a good Roku replacement. What’s your use case?

great. now they need to add the ability to use the Apple Remote, while not then auto assigning the Apple TV as a destination for media played from the phone. They are literally completely separate purposes and yet they are tied together and cause chaos in my house on a daily basis.
A few reasons. First, I live with 2 children and an autistic adult. Remotes get lost all the time. It’s way easier for them to grab one of the other remotes than wait for an adult to flip a couch over to dig out the missing one.
Second, having a few remotes floating around the room is super convenient, there’s always one nearby whenever you need one.
Third, my kids and I watch more YouTube than traditional TV, and having more than one person with a remote is easier to get a round robin thing going with picking videos.
Fourth, the house is open floor plan, and it’s nice having one in the living room area, one in the dining room at meal time, etc.
Are any of these things necessary? Definitely not. But they make life easier and more fun, so why not?
seems only half true, yes you can drag the icon onto the Home Screen HOWEVER when you try and laugh it all you get is a popup telling you to go to the control center !!! please test what you say before posting...
