iOS 27 Public Beta Is Here: 10 New Features Worth Testing

Hopefully it fixes some, if not all of the issues with dictation on both iPhone and iPad. I am so tired of how bad it is on both OS systems. Some of the issues and questions: why can't the OS systems have a dictionary that can add a new word to? If a word is underlined, why can't one of the options when tapping it be add to dictionary? Is that so difficult to do?

And why does text replacement (when you've set up a shortcut in keyboard settings) only work when typing manually but not with dictation? And why can't the system figure out what the correct word is when you've accidentally typed a letter on the bottom of the keyboard near the space bar like "n" or "b" or something like that, causing the word to only be off by that one letter? And if you try to correct a misspelled word by changing a letter or two after using the space bar as a mouse cursor (which doesn't work every time either) it will capitalize the new letter in the middle of the word. Or when you tap on a corrected word in the space above the keyboard, it won't add the entire word to your dictation. Or when you are dictating a sentence and some words just disappear from your dictation. I mean, come on.

It is really hard to understand how Apple has let this exist in such a putrid state for so long and taken absolutely no steps to correct any of this. SMH.

So I have it a shot and installed the beta. Mostly because my iPhone 16 Pro Max had slowed and iOS 27 is supposed to improve efficiency. It was really annoying - even took a second to recognize I touched the screen to wake the phone.

Have to say, the day to day speed is noticeably faster so far. Almost like taking the phone back to when I first got it. I’m sure there will be bugs! But the speed is worth it so far.

Dictation became much worse for me lately on the betas.

That's hard no. Can Siri be deleted entirely, or do I stick on the last known good OS?

Siri is software. Your email software also has private access to your emails.

Been running ios 27 public beta for about two days now no problems at all and very stable. It was big though 30.24 gb coming from 26.5.2

For what it’s worth I’ve been running the developer betas since the first release on my daily driver and outside of a bug that made it appear that I had new/unread iMessages when I didn’t, which was finally fixed in Beta 3, I haven’t had any issues with it or any of the apps I use and battery life so far has been fine which usually isn’t the case with early iOS developer betas but I’m on an iPhone 17 Pro so the battery is less than a year old.

I wouldn’t hesitate to tell somebody it’s fine to install it on your phone at this point. Might there be some bugs? Sure. Any show stoppers? Not so far for me in my device.

As for Siri AI. Honestly I’m so used to Siri sucking that I find I just don’t use it much day in and day out. I’m a big time creature of habit, so it’s going to take me time to change my behavior enough to really be able to tell but it appears to be a big improvement over what was there and I’m expecting it to get better with time as they continue tweaking it during the beta and beyond.
