iOS-27-Public-Beta-Horizontal.jpg
The first public betas of iOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, and more will be released this week, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. This aligns with Apple's promised July timeframe.

If you have an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, the key new feature is Siri AI, but there is a waitlist if you want to try it.

Have had developer beta on MacBook Air since the start. Put beta 3 on my iPad Pro, iPad mini, and iPhone Air this past week. no problems thus far.
on the MacBook Air, I had one time where mission control hung and I couldn’t get back to the desktop. other than that, no issues.

I’m quite excited to try it. The new Photos app features look really cool. Spotlight looks like it got a major upgrade with all the Siri indexing. Ive been interested in AI from an academic point of view, but Siri AI looks like it’ll be useful and usable by regular folks like me. Shortcuts getting some attention also makes me happy, as I’m a big Shortcuts guy.

I’m also excited for the transparency slider vs the collection of accessibility features as a workaround to make things readable. Hoping this genuinely is more of a “Snow Leopard” update with some AI features bolted on.

Is there precedent for a public beta with broken major-ish features?

Currently, Shortcut automations are pretty broken. Search is broken for a lot of people, including me. Safari has been causing people problems, but mine is fine. Light mode glass still doesn't match WWDC because the specular highlights are missing on iOS and iPadOS (though dark mode is beautiful).

I’d be surprised to see all of this make it to a public beta where more cautious testers could get burned.

Edit: seems the splash page updated two hours ago:

Hmm, seems a bit early to release this all to the public then, unless dev beta 4 sees serious improvements.

Perhaps beta 5 will be public beta 1.

Apple can't really afford to have wider dissatisfaction with its platforms by releasing work that is not ready for consumption other than third party devs. So I hope that the 1st public beta is only when things are looking pretty good.

Not one person I know here considers Sunday the start of the week not one business not one person

On US calendars, Sunday is generally set at the beginning of the week. So a lot of people do informally consider it the first day of the week. I've even known people to argue about what seventh day means, both in a religious and practical sense.

Personally I agree that Monday is the first day of the week, it just makes sense, but like a lot of things that just make sense with regard to measurements, the US seems to enjoy making it needlessly complicated for obscure historical reasons.
