I've owned ten foldables to date, over the past 4 years, and I've never had a single scratch on any of the inner displays. I even remove the inner display screen protector on my Samsung folds. Zero scratches. That's not to say it can't happen of course. But, I don't walk around with sand and rocks in my pockets.

I've seen experienced trusted reviewers say their experiences have been mark screens easily. But it is good to hear someone with experience say they can be ok. Did you baby them a lot?
Why did you have ten? Which has been your favourite? Personally I liked the look of the Pixel Fold, the first one.

I’ve owned three different ZFold models, the 4, 6, and soon 7 when it arrives this Friday. The 6 has been flawless. The 4 had an issue with the screen protector developing bubbles right where the crease is. The screen itself was fine. It was the screen protector that looked terrible. I ended up trading it in for my 6, which has been great since I got it a year ago. I haven’t had to baby the screens. I just treat them like I treat all my phones.

Ironically my iPhone 15 Pro Max screen cracked a couple of months ago, the first in a very long line of phones I have ever damaged. I put it on a chair and it got swept off onto the plastic chair mat. It fell less than 2 feet and it cracked even with a screen protector on it. It’s a lesson that it’s the type of fall and where it lands on the phone’s body that matters. Apparently it hit right at the bottom right corner of the glass and created two major cracks in the screen.

I have zero expectation of this being even marginally more successful than the Vision Pro.
Vision Pro was always doomed in its current form and price. At best, it can be further refined so that in 10-20 years there is an attractive version of it (i.e. not a heavy brick that you wire around your head).

As for a foldable, it's still going to suffer because of the price. But it's going to be attractive as a form factor, so I believe it will not be a failure. Even the triple-foldable phones (Samsungs rumoured G Fold 7) may be attractive, in my opinion. But of course, will stay a nishe unless the prices go down significantly.

However, there is one thing... Knowing how Apple behaves, they will try to find something unique about the foldable form factor. I.e. people will see it as a phone + iPad, but Apple will give it castrated software (just iOS I guess) that cause annoyances so that you still have to go to your iPad to do certain things... This one is for sure.

I buy several phones each year, and then keep the best foldable and slab phone of the ones I try. This way, I get to experience several devices and land on the best one for me. I use the slab phone as a backup to my fold. So far, my top three are:

1. OnePlus Open
2. Oppo Find N5
3. Honor Magic V3 Global

I wouldn't say I baby my phones, but I am definitely not reckless with them. I've also owned the Z Fold 3, 4, 5, 6, the Z Flip 4 (which I hated), the Pixel Fold, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and I currently have the Z Fold 7 scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I love PixelOS, but I haven't had a good experience with a Pixel foldable to date. The OG Pixel Fold was nice, but it was way to heavy, had a lot of software bugs, and the battery life wasn't great. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold was lighter and I didn't mind the form factor, but the Wi-Fi calling was subpar, so I couldn't make or receive phone calls very well from my house, which is in a rural area outside a big city. This was a deal breaker for me, because I am on-call four weeks out of the year. Unfortunately, it looks like the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is still going to be hefty, with little in terms of upgrades from the P9PF. I'm not really a fan of Samsung, but their software caters more to people in the US, while the Chinese companies are still lagging behind on that a bit. I prefer the multi-tasking on the Chinese foldables though, over Samsung. Also, the charging speeds on the Google and Samsung foldables is really, really terrible. Especially on the Google phones. It took me over 1 hour and 40 minutes to charge my Pixel 9 Pro Fold from 0-100%. I can charge my Find N5 from 0-100% in 40 minutes. I can even charge it wirelessly faster than I could charge my Z Fold 6 and P9PF wired. That is pathetic!

OnePlus for the win! They have come a really long way since their humble cheap flagship beginnings.

That is for sure! The form factor and weight of the Find N5 is the best. But, I've had a few little software bugs with updates that put the OnePlus Open at the top.
