iOS-27-Will-Give-Your-iPhone-Longer-Battery-Life-Feature.jpg
iOS 27 is rumored to be focused on bug fixes and performance improvements, and this should result in "longer battery life," according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In line with his previous reporting, Gurman today said Apple is "making performance improvements aimed at extending the battery life of the iPhone," but he said it is "unclear if Apple will quantify how much longer devices will last." In other words, it remains to be seen if Apple highlights the battery life improvements during its WWDC 2026 keynote this Monday.

They'd better focus on smoother synchronisation with iCloud! People drain lots of battery juice scrolling social media, watching movies, etc. but Apple still lives in ancient times mentally of saving battery so as it discharges 5 minutes earlier. That's crazy.

Example: They fixed (partially) Mail badge issue (no update when mail is read on other device). It was poor fix (no full sychronization of local e-mails with iCloud, just fetch "counters"). Still, they managed to break it again.

Yeah, sure. We also heard that with iOS 26 and it's "adaptive power mode" and how did it end?
My journey of using my 16e bought in march 25:

iOS 18 on it. Wow this is so fast with incredible battery life. And soon I’ll get all of the Siri stuff promised at WWDC 24 - can’t wait!

Ok new Siri stuff then. I’m not going to believe Apple’s marketing again for a long time.

But wow is this phone fast and I just love the battery life.

Suckered in by 26 and Liquid Glass new shiny. I guess I should wait though?

Ah 26.0 is out. Who am I kidding?

Ok .0 is always rough. I’m sure they’ll improve it.

Ah I can’t downgrade to 18 now. But I’m sure Apple will improve it.

I’ll turn adaptive power mode on. That will help. Right? But my battery life is still awful. Maybe that toggle doesn’t actually do anything.

Ok I’m glad that they’ve made a tinted mode as I’m growing to dislike the Liquid Glass transparency. I can’t read text on it half the time. Is there really no way to go back to 18?

Why has my battery life taken a huge hit? My 16e isn’t a year old even. I’ve lost about 20% capacity seemingly and that battery meter goes down like sand in an hour glass.

Wow low power mode is unusable. You can see how much processing resources it takes to render all these translucencies even in tinted mode.

I really regret updating from 18.

Let’s hope that 27 isn’t awful.

This has driven me crazy forever. It's even worse for Exchange ActiveSync accounts, as the counter doesn't even update when you mark a message read from another device.

Yep, I hate this. They broke it somewhere near iOS13 and haven't fix it till then (partial patch worked for some time).

I’m reasonably impressed with my iPhone’s battery life. I have a 15 Pro Max, famous for overheating (and it does), with 1063 cycles on it, and I’m at 87% max capacity. That’s not too shabby!
