Focusing on bugs and stability means NOTHING if the following year it’s full of bugs again. This is exactly what happened with iOS 12 and what followed with iOS 13 was the worst release in apples history. So bad they had to issue an update over the weekend because iPad safari got flushed from memory as soon as you exited the app or switched tabs, rendering it nearly useless.

They need an entire overhaul as to their yearly approach to software. Otherwise this is a nothing burger.

I swear it feels like we hear this “improve quality over features” every year from leakers.
Agreed, and it never seems to happen, even when Apple supports the concept.

Which I guess is expected, when software development is outsourced to third-world teenagers.

It makes quite a bit of sense, the actual snow leopard was the first Intel only release, and came after a pretty massive and controversial GUI refresh in Leopard.
Apple has already announced that Tahoe is the last Intel release, and macOS 27 will be the last to include Rosetta, just like how originally that was the case with Snow Leopard.
Definitely will be some cleaning up, since there are still bits and pieces of built in apps like the Music visualizer that are still based off of Intel.

Awesome, iOS needs a thorough tune-up.

And it does seem like 26.2 is a preview of what’s to come. There’s tiny things here and there in each beta that have been getting patched up.

I've thought for a long time now that Apple should take time out to concentrate on fine tuning and bug fixing IOS, rather than throwing another load of features into the pot and spend the next 6 months ironing out issues.

I welcome this approach.

I stopped reading when I saw it was from Gurman. Not going to give him the time of day anymore. Tired of speculators making money off of bogus and wild guesses while diminishing the excitement of actual Apple releases

Maybe new Siri will be part of the new AI because Apple is still hanging onto that release years after it was announced...

That’s right, folks, it’s time to get stoked for the BEST, MOST POWERFUL, MOST ADVANCED OSes that Apple has ever released. And Apple didn’t stop there. Apple is proud to announce a a whole new level of performance and stability. Along with the game-changing Liquid Glass and Apple Intelligence, OS 27 is truly the OS for pros. Apple can’t wait to see the incredible things customers are able to do. Apple thinks you’re gonna love it.

One more thing…. It’s also time to get pumped for the ALL NEW iPhone Air! Apple’s revolutionary iPhone Air will have its biggest upgrade since Apple changed the game with the thinnest iPhone EVER!

If it is true then it sounds like all OS 26 devices may get OS 27 like all iOS 11 devices got iOS 12.

Which can also include Apple TV HD on this list because it’s so old lol
My expectation is that given that macOS 27 is M1 and up, and the M1 is based off of the A14, apple could decide to cut support for anything older than that M1/A14 architecture at least for iOS.
iPadOS and tvOS are a different story

One thing I wish Apple would fix with the current IOS 26 is the music app. From the Home Screen in the App when I click search, I have to then hit the search bar again to type in a song. This is so maddening for me. When I hit the search icon it means I am ready to start typing, not that I expect I have to then hit the search field before I can start typing.

It is small things like this that Apple needs to fix. They made the whole process so much more time consuming. Something that runners and cyclists like me do not have time for. Please Apple fix this.

Trillion dollar company and their engineers can't come up with a better software? I get it will never be bug free, but they slapped a new can of paint on it for IOS26 and made it harder to use from a user perspective.

This is basically Apple admitting that the new os (26) is so bug ridden, that the next os update will be to fix what they broke in the this update. Maybe just get it (ios26) right before you release it? There are bugs on the watch that have been there for years.

incorrect the worst release in iOS History was iOS 4 for the 3G or has anyone forgotten about this moment

I think it's been 10 years now where every iOS is a "bug fixing release mainly" and every year they release a mess buggier than a Mississippi swamp.

Awesome maybe they’ll tackle some of the Music bugs. Like having, “Show Apple Music” turned off and still having the app saturated by Apple Music in search etc.

I hope it will be like iOS 12 & Snow Leopard improvements, not iOS 9, El Capitan, High Sierra type of "improvements" where they made everything slower and worse
