was going to jailbreak if I could get 4.0 sometime soon. Will a working hack be released in the near future?

I'd say that it's extremely unlikely. Getting the iPhone 4.0 OS working on an iPad would be a huge amount of effort. Especially as shortly afterwards the real iPad 4.0 would be released anyway.

I wont bother unless I can multitask and get the features of the new OS.

Why is it so difficult to get 4.0 running on the iPad? Its the same OS as the iPhone and both devices have the same hardware specs...

Have you used an iPad ?
The iPad OS is based on the iPhone OS, but it's not the same ...
Many native Apps (iPod,Safari,iBooks,Videos,Mail) are completely different from iPhone OS.
Don't forget it's Apple, so you can't run an iOS4 on iPad for the same reason that you can't run iPhone OS on an iPod Touch

Every thing the new os does can already be done with a jailbreaknfor a longtime. Thatsnbeen pointed out more than once around here.

The new os for ipad will be available in the fall.

Is there a beta of OS 4 for the iPad out? I think Backgrounder is a far better program for multitasking than the one Apple used but I like Apples folders. I've been using 4 on the iPhone for a couple of months and really like it. My iPad still has 3.2 JB.
