Does anyone know anything about the progress of the ios 4.1 jail break ? It seems to be taking forever this time lol unless I missed it somewhere ?!

They are working on it. It's not the top thing on their list right now though. Honestly, they may as well wait until 4.2.

It haven't been just over a week since released, it haven't been forever, it should be just a bit longer until release, 4.2 is about 9 weeks away

It's been like 2 weeks. That is certainly not forever.
Obviously you are new to jailbreaking.

Quick opinion question? When the new JB comes out for 4.1. Is it better to upgrade from an alrady JB'ed phone on 4.0.1 or is it better to JB from a fresh 4.1

4.1 has only been out like 2 weeks. It took at least 6 weeks for 4.0 to be jailbroken. So mostly likely there's still a while to wait, they might even be waiting for 4.2 to be out, who knows.

Settle down people! I was exaggerating when I said forever! I'm just tired of all the bugs in ios 4 :)

Thanks for the info !

Hey I just bought an iPhone today and I am understanding that this is currently not able to be jailbroken yet, as with the newest update for iPad.

You are correct about the iPad. With the iPhone 4, I think all of them are coming with 4.0.2 now or 4.1. But if you check under Settings > General > About and you're on 4.0.1 you can jailbreak! But that is highly unlikely unfortunately :(

No ???

Stop asking, you'll know when everyone else knows and no one can give you insider information on the 4.1 JB.

Dude take it easy, I'm just trying to figure out where jail breaking is at for the iPhone, since I don't have mine yet I wasn't sure if it was possible anymore.

I like the auto-assumption of me going off the handle LOL

Google is your friend. Or even search the MacRumors forum, there's a million other threads asking for the JB all with the same answer.

best tweet I have seen in a while from Chpwn

@chpwn
If I can answer your tweet by just Googling it, so can you. Try that first, please, so I don't have to waste my time.

I am betting that the Dev Team may just hold off until iOS 4.2 comes out. This way, it will "save" exploits that will be useful if Apple makes a 4.2.1, a 4.3 when the new iPads get released, or 5.x when next year's iPhones are released.

They are already working on it, they are not waiting, 4.2 is still about 8 weeks away.

There's a difference between speculations and calculated assumptions. More than likely the JB is for 4.1, I don't get why you would think other wise considering the nature of the exploit, and they wouldn't want to disappoint. You can also assume it will be released within the next 3 weeks. Why three? An educated guess.
