Great, every time I update my iPhone, I have nothing but problems.

I eventually have to restore my phone multiple time before getting it to work. I just updated to 4.3 and after hours of screwing with it, it finally works now. I didn't want to update again so soon.

Apple really needs to update iTunes & the whole firmware update process.

My sympathies, so far I've been lucky? having had no problems updating mine since I got it.:)

Yes! This will enable the secret AWS band that the iPhone has supported for the last two years now that AT&T has taken over.

There is absolutely no reason to "fix jailbreak hole" on an iPad or iPod. I can understand the issues with why an iPhone and iPad 3G needs patching, but it bothers me greatly when they go out of their way to disable jailbreaks on non-cellular devices.
Personally, I'm bothered when people who don't know from **** say dumb things like this. A jailbreak vulnerability is by definition a security vulnerability, and it'd be highly irresponsible of Apple to ignore it.

Oh, and iPads are cellular devices in their 3g incarnations.

You do realize the "jailbreak hole" is a security vulnerability right?

BGR is obviously making this up. There is no "iPad 2 jailbreak vulnerability" that Apple is likely to know about at this point.

"Fixed issue with the Springboard and 3rd party apps not recgonizing the gyroscope on the iPad 2"

I don't have a system with the gyroscope yet (iPad2 on the way though!!). What does the gyroscope do with the Springboard?

I've noticed my iPad doesn't pick up screen rotations in some apps as well as the home screen sometimes. Is the gyroscope what determines tilt too?

Fixed memory hang that results in memory corruption when reading large files from USIM filesystem

Good. I've started editing videos on my iPad1 and some odd things were happening when juggling ~2GB files. Of note, I couldn't upload 'em to Dropbox without aborting. Hope this update fixes it.

Try turning off Ping in the settings. That fixed it for me and quite a few others.

Never had Ping activated, did resets, made sure stuff was off and still have major drain. I think there's something more under the hood causing it. Hopefully, as Apple doesn't like to admit certain issues, it will be quietly fixed with the update.

first, he did note that the iPad 3G needs patching as a cellular device.

Probably what this poster, and I'm sure many others (to a degree, including myself) would much prefer would be an Apple approved jailbreak method. Something that would allow people who wanted to go to the trouble to open their system up to additional customization and addition marketplaces. I would envision something along the lines of the method of activating the new multitouch gestures using Xcode. Sure, it could be a convoluted pain to do it, but Apple could actually do it in a way that wouldn't constituted a vulnerability. Quite the contrary, Apple could do it in a way that ensured your device stayed secure.

But, of course, I'm dreaming here. I know it won't happen.... (But then again, they said that about the idea of having the option of using the side switch as a mute switch or a rotation lock switch...)

I never have problems when I upgrade my iPhone. Out of curiosity do you sync with iTunes on OS/X or Windows?

If you're trying to place any blame on Windows causing this problem you should get your head out of your ass. If not, then I apologize. It's just getting rather old seeing people on here pounce on MS every chance they get.

Finally.

Maybes a battery drainage fix too?

People have been complaining about battery draining since 2007 and the first iPhone, i think people need to accept the fact that an update is never coming (or just admit that they have a severe case of OCD)

Always the latest version of iTunes on Windows XP.

I have an iPhone 4 & 3GS with two different computers both running XP and all combination have problems updating.

Battery size has actually gone up since then. You know what the real problem is? Compared to feature phones, people are using their iPhone a lot more often!! People need to remember that you'll only get about 6 hrs of Internet browsing on 3G.

I kind of suspected that you were using iTunes on Windows. iTunes really stinks on the Windows platform. If you could sync your iPhone to a Mac, I bet you'd have less problems.

I too have experienced terrible battery life since 4.3. I just restored as a new phone last night, and will see how battery life is today. I also just turned off Ping to see if that helps.

Hope this update addresses the issue, I had great battery life up until 4.3.

+1000

Every time a new update is out it's the same thing.

What? BGR is one of the most reliable sources ou there. See no home buton for the next ipad

Actually, that rumor was sort of true. You can turn on and off the iPad using the smartcover. Sometimes rumors relate to something real but in the mind set of the existing product. Only when the new product is disclosed they suddenly makes sense.

Fixed iPad 2 jailbreak vulneratbility
If it's intentional then there is a case for JB's to bring to court.

I know, I know not going to happen and you can't win blah blah, sure some will post this............But and a big but

2% "Abuse the Iphone Data by tethering"

Ok so we know the number of Jailbreakers are at least 300,000 since At&t boasted 15 million Iphone customers, what about the world and people who do not abuse Data per At&t, I estimate Jailbreaking to be at least 5%

so thats 750,000 people at least what about a Million?

So world wide the update to 4.3.1 and future ones that cut out Jailbreaking altogether could cut off a million people from CYdia and ThemeIt and any other non Apple owned App sources, in the USA we call that a Monopoly and restraint of trade........ It's illegal and such can be court ruled that Apple must once and for all "Open up IOS" or leave it so it could be Jailbroken.

I know I know Apple has a right to close the software blah Blah,
in reality no, they do not have the right

Why? The same reason Microsoft has been told over and over it has to stop bundling programs like IE and others with it's software, Microsoft did not close Windows to anything and was giving programs for free, yet courts have said its an unfair advantage to other software.

Apple attempts to completely control the App market with Itunes.
CYdia is a competitor.

Its unfair to all of us to not take this seriously and fight Apple on taking Jailbreaking away.

There's a court case now over Iphones should be sold as Unlocked, I disagree with that because the Carriers should have them locked till the contract is up.

Jailbreak and Unlock are two separate issues.

Now rip away I know some will.

If your phone ran "great" Apple would not need to do another update but they do.

My iPhone 2g works great on ios1, but the updates contain additional features.

No body else is interested in an iPad and 3GS baseband update? Looks like they will be releasing a baseband higher than 06.15.00, to relock all 3GS's. But maybe the dev team can do it again with the new baseband.
