With the new API to access native iCal database entries in iOS4, calendaring applications are now able to CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) native calendar database entries. Prior to iOS4 calendar apps maintained their own database and relied upon other syncing technologies (ie. Google Cal) to share data.

I know that Pocket Informant is working on version 1.60 which will fully integrate the calendar database.

I would like to keep a list of PIM apps that use the native iCal database.

So far I have only been able to find 1:

    1. Week Calendar (1.99) - Calendar that displays in Week format.

If you know of any apps that interface directly with the iCal database, please feel free to add them. Thanks. :)

The developers don't seem to answer emails, and I believe that's cause they don't speak English, so there's no way to ask them directly, but given that they've been excellent with updating SaiSuke, I'd guess Retina support is definitely on it's way.

Calengoo allows access to iPhone calendar:

The developer says there are performance fixes coming for an upcoming update. Apparently, in daily view, the app starts to lag down when scrolling from day to day because the app is reading the local database.

Otherwise, a nice app. So far, it is now living on my 1st home screen.
