It will be released tommorow right?
What i really want to know is what will be excluded for the iPod Touch 2G.

Download it, find out, and let us all know...

Honestly, can't people think for themselves these days?

Yes it is being released tommorow. As stated here, at the bottom of the page,

"Not all features are compatible with all devices. For example, multitasking, custom wallpaper, and Bluetooth keyboard support are available only with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and the third-generation iPod touch (32GB and 64GB models from late 2009)."

So you get Folders, spell check, updated mail app, playlists, iBooks.

Aperantly not.

The first generation touch wont have much no multitasking is one of them The second generation touch will have most everything. The third will have everything.

Rewatch the iOS 4 and iPhone 4 keynotes. It was explained more there.

Why can't the second generation get wallpapers? I know its not that much a deal but it seems like it could even be on the first gen. Unless it's something technail preventing it to be.

I agree, but I think it has something to do with the processor. After installing 4.0, I noticed that opening and closing apps became very smooth. Maybe wallpapers take up too many resources, and slow down the ipod.

I think I saw that wallpapers are part of multitasking. Furthermore, the reason that the older devices are excluded from multitasking is memory...2G iPod touch has 128 MB vs 256 on the 3G.

Folders sound promising. :D

What about changing your springboard, is that going to be included? I think that would be a major plus.

How would using a wallpaper be different than using a black background(processor-wise)?

Search me. Seems kinda silly. But as far as multitasking goes, the memory in 2g vs 3g devices is a valid one.

Nobodys answering my question:mad:!!!!!!!!

JK, its only been like an hour.

What do you mean? If you mean the background, yes you will be able to change it on 3rd gen devices. ;)

As Apple themselves says, the 3G will not have background changing. It has to do with specific text rendering/shadow features that the 3G does not support.

That counts for the iphone 3G i think and not the ipod touch 3G

I thought the 1st gen wont get ios4:confused:

So iOS4 wont let you change the springboard (backgrounds for the apps)? I know that you can change your wallpaper.:confused::confused:

Ok guys some of you got it wrong. Sad to say that 1st gen iPod touch won't get an update at all. Second gen will basically get everything, including backgrounds/wallpapers, but will not get multitasking. Third gen will get everything including multitasking.

I have a 2nd gen ipod touch, running 4.0. It does not get the homescreen wallpapers & no multi-tasking.

Technically it's tomorrow (Monday) in Florida. What do I have to do to get the update???

Weird. I'm actually in Alaska, but on new music Tuesdays I can usually get the new music at 8p.m. Alaska time. Just very anxious...:D

Is anyone going to answer my question? You guys should know cause it just came out today.

Never mind, it does, awesome. Folders and multitasking are promising. I posted this on another thread but no one answered. :(
So if i were to create an account, download music from my computer then if i logged in to my account on another computer (my friends), would i be able to download stuff? Would that work?
