The first generation touch wont have much

It isn't even OS 4 compatible. It gets zero of the new features. The original iPhone and iPod touch are left out of this update.

As Apple themselves says, the 3G will not have background changing. It has to do with specific text rendering/shadow features that the 3G does not support.

Biker is correct; that's the iPhone 3G. The iPod touch 3rd gen and iPhone 3Gs will have backgrounds.

That counts for the iphone 3G i think and not the ipod touch 3G
