Hi all (am new to macrumors) and i needed help on upgrading my iPhone 3GS to the iOS 5gm. Basically we unlocked the phone via apple (legitimately) for something like 10 pounds. I am worried that if i update to the gm, will it affect the unlock AT all?

    Thanks

The carrier has to unlock the phone. Apple will not do it.

Any semi shady phone repair shop will unlock your phone for basically nothing at all.

If it is a valid unlock it will be unlocked forever. Don't worry about it.

Also you would get more responses if you posted in the iphone section.

Yep, a phone unlocked by O2 will have no problems as it's registered with Apple as an unlocked phone.

I've moved the thread to the iPhone section :)
