Not sure which is funnier, Devs who don't know how to install a beta or everyone else begging to be added because "I don't have the money myself but it would be cool." Expect multiple "iOS 5 has bugs" threads within hours.

[*]Hold down option (shift on Windows) then click on restore under summary for your device in itunes, select the .ipsw file
[*]It will restore to the beta, then restore to a previous backup to get files back

Wait, do I get this right?: updating to iOS 5 beta erases all of your old data, then your device starts from scratch. And if I want to go back to 4.3.3 I can't. I can, however, "restore" to my last backup of me on 4.3.3 and all the files transfer perfectly, just like a normal restore, but it all goes on iOS 5 istead of the actualy firmware I made the backup on? I always hear there's "no downgrading" so I figure at least half of that was correct. I guess the big question for me is, does restoring really work like that or will I run into issues? Will iOS 4 files and apps conflict with iOS 5? (maybe I should erase Twitter or something? lol)

Guess I'm guilty of being a fanboy too cause I signed up for a dev account! I really do want to try and make an app......someday! Right now I just want to mess with iOS 5.

Do all developers get additional slots for beta testers?

It' seems like a no brained to sign up for it every year if you know what I mean if you do get those 90 or so beta tester slots to give out :)

Does having the IOS5 beta cause future problems when the os is released?
Never mind I just read the excellent guide by graymalkin2 and found the answer.

Please tell me y'all intend to develop applications.

Please tell me you didn't purchase a dev account for the sole reason of installing a glitchy, buggy iOS that was intended to only test apps you develop.

If not, then I consider this a waste of $99, and a developer's account.

I'm a computer engineer student, I will definitely put it to good use.

sounds good though...

cheers

I also bought the 99$ kit about 15mins ago. Waiting for the e-mail ever so patiently. These notifications are the reason why im doing this. I intended to learn and develop an app - but my god the notifications are a cluster ***** before 5 came out.

Congrats on your new account! Enjoy developing apps. Make sure you make something useful for the App Store!

I have also purchased a Dev Account; however, whenever I try to activate my account, I get a message saying that apple cannot verify my identity. I submitted a trouble ticket to them 2 days ago, and have yet to get this error corrected. I guess I'll have to wait a while longer till I get ios5.

Exactly. You can get someone to register your UDID for £8 - if you just want to use iOS 5.

Word. That's what I did. $5 on eBay. I NEEDED the new notification system badly. It was to the point I was about to dump my iPhone 4 for something else until they announced it at WWDC. Since I've had iOS 5 I am in love!

Why didn't you just buy one off eBay for $5???
