hey guys
I have Ios 5 and itunes 10.5 but how do you get it to sync wirelessly as in the sync setting it says it will sync when my mac is available, but its on with itunes open

has any one actually got it to work
thanks

i'm also net getting it to work.
It kind of seems to only work if you plug in the phone, so it's not really wifi syncing...

do you have your phone plugged into a power source ? I think you need that to sync wireless.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/534.32 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8F190 Safari/6533.18.5)

It only works plugged in via USB which is odd

So no wifi sync in this beta yet....
I remember seeing a video showing how cool wifi sync is so I guessed they already implemented it...

But some still say, that the wifi sync is working... without the need of a usb cable (i know that the iphone needs to be connected to a power source).

i can not get it to work... the snyc button on my iphone is grey all the time... i can press sync only when connect the iphone via usb to a mac. but again, thats not wifi...

wi fi sync is not active in beta 1!!!! I hope the larger font helps people understand this

You're not using wifi sync as its not active. Unless you're backing up to the cloud. It's in the dev notes that it's not currently enabled

Exactly.

I think this highlights the fact that a lot of the people who have installed the iOS 5 Beta are not developers as they would know that they should READ the release notes before installing the beta!

I think those that have it and claim its working are confusing it with backing up to the cloud, or have the cable plugged into the machine and manually syncing from the device as that's the only time that button works

Wifi Sync Works!!!

Go to this link. It works the same way for pc. However, keep in mind that no matter what you still will have to connected to a power outlet. But you can sync without actually being connected to your computer.

Deselect 'Open iTunes... when... connected'

Mac users:

So here's the fix I came up with (iPhone 4S, iTunes 10.5, OS 10.6.8):
Connect iPhone via USB
Go into iTunes and select the iPhone under device
Under Options, select "Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi"
And the crucial part: DESELECT "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected."

It didn't work for me until I stumbled across the last part.

Lion quirk

I tried this and was really hopeful, I had this all working on 10.6.8, with iPhone 4, 3GS and iPad 1. After i upgraded to Lion, I noticed that WiFi Sync had stopped. The crucial thing for me is that I have my iMac hard wired via Ethernet. I enabled WiFi on the iMac and now I'm back to WiFi sync.

Looks like Lion acts as the router for WiFi sync, whereas Snow Leopard is normal and allows your home router to do the thinking...I suppose they'll get it right in Lion sooner or later!
