One of my colleagues updated her iPhone 4 to 6.0.1 the other night over wi-fi and since then She has been having major issues with her Internet connection. It's been showing 3G is on but it's not doing anything and it's also very intermittent about picking up Wi-Fi networks. She has tried turning the phone off and on again but with the same result.

I'm now reluctant to update my iPhone 5 software in case the same thing happens to me. Is this a known issue with the new iOS?

It's not one that I think many people are experiencing. I updated my iPhone and iPad and each are working fine. I would suggest you (or her) do a restore of her phone and see if that helps.

It absolutely is a problem. I have the iPhone 5 and was having issues with iOS6.0, so updated to iOS 6.0.1 and things went from bad to worse. My daughter, son and wife all did the same thing at the same time with different iPhones-4S, 2 4GS and they are all sorry they did the update. Stay far away from this disaster.
