I feel it has to be OTA. One of the big selling points for the iPhone 4S was that it was PC FREE. They advertised that you no longer had to own a PC to enjoy iOS devices.

So will it delete all my apps if I upgrade via my phone with no PC?

Cheers

PJ.

The link doesn't provide such info. What is your source?

According to developer website, iPhone 4 GSM version clocks in at 887 MB and iPhone 4S at 912 MB.

It'll be OTA via WiFi only due to the size.

Yes and No. It should ask you to backup to iCloud first. IF you do it will save all your personal app data and when it restores your phone, should redownload all your apps as is.

What about custom setup things, like WIFI passwords, app data etc. Whats actually included in the iCloud backup? I want to continue to WIFI sync form my mac to the iPhone after iOS 6 as well. Does this stuff have to be setup again?

Currently I have iOS 6 Beta 3 installed on my 4S. Will I be able to upgrade OTA on the 19th ? Or do I have to restore and install from iTunes ?

Thanks

Thanks, and how do I do that ? Just plug in and click restore or do I have to put into DFU mode etc ? Could you provide the steps ? Thanks a lot.

just plug it in open itunes hold shift (pc) or option (mac) and select the GM ipsw, make sure u backup first

All of that is saved in backup and is restored when you restore.

Everything is included. Photos, settings, certificates, app data, PDFs in iBooks, etc.

I didn't mean the GM. I meant the official release next week. When iOS 6 is officially released is it possible to do OTA upgrade from beta or do I have to click check for updates on iTunes. How is the procedure for the official release ?

thanks

not from the beta no, but the GM should be the same as the official release.

u wont be able to click check for updates in itunes as it will say u have the latest... if u dont wish to use the GM build then u can restore to iOS 5.what ever its upto :p and then OTA update.

Just to make sure, will this update force updating on the 19th or will it just be there if wanted?
