We need to stop dumbing down everything. I miss the days when I could do power user stuff with my devices. The good ol days of true computer trade shows and dial up Internet.

My wife and I share our iPad right now and, for the most part, don't need to each have our own iPad (ie, we can share pretty easily). However, it would be REALLY nice if we could each have separate logins to access our own email, messages, apps, home screen, settings, etc etc. Apple may not do this because they would want people who "share" iPads to each get their own. What do you think, would apple ever add this feature to iOS 6? Obviously, an iphone is much more personal so wouldn't really be needed to have multiple user logins.

Meh a guest mode would definitely be nice. :apple:

I'd like to see this, though I wouldn't want multiple logins - a simple guest feature where you can choose which apps etc.

I'm a Computing Teacher and naturally I want my pupils to use my iPad to encourage wider technology use, see benefits of it in school, numerous different things.

After picking it up on Friday and my pupils had finished a test, a few of them spotted it and asked if they could try it for fun. Naturally, curiousity got the better of them, and the first thing they headed for after trying a few apps were my contacts and photographs. Quickly I spotted this and took it off them. I'd be happy with a pin lock for certain apps, that can be turned on and off if need be.

I think Apple would much prefer it if you had separate iPads.

The iPad has always been marketed as a very personal device. To imply that it can be shared would go against that whole message. I agree, I wish this feature would be implemented, but I don't see it happening any time soon.

It IS a very personal device, which is why people who share it should each be able to personalize it rather than buy double the hardware. Personally I don't think multiple logins would interfere with that thought, if anything, it would enforce it. I just think Apple may have a wish to sell more of them rather than not.

I don't think we will get separate login screen for each user. However, you can improvise. Here is what we do:

My wife and I already each has one email account under the mail app. She has one page of her own apps on the home screen. For most settings, we just compromise and agree on a unified settings. Skype, we just have to logout and log back in again. :(

I read an article where there is code in place in Android for multiple user accounts on one device. Hopefully this will be introduced in the next version of Android to help push Apple in the same direction. No doubt Windows 8 will have this feature as well.

I'd be happy with password protected email. Sharing the rest of the device with family is fine with me. Children don't need access to my email.

Yes also with Exchange servers that make you have a passcode, why cant I just have a passcode on my email/calendar? Great idea.

You mean like a "Personal Computer"? :D

iOS already separates the user data from the system with a second partition so it shouldn't be a massive overhaul to allow the creation of another partition. It's something you would have to activate so it wouldn't affect regular users at all.
