iOS 6 upgrade was the worst ever experience for me.

My opinion of Apple is rapidly on the decline.

Same here...

The shine of apple has certainly dulled a lot with this release. No pun intended. It's too serious to make a joke of it.

Desperately hoping they address issues in the next iOS6 update.

I was able to get decent battery life back by turning the brightness slider way down to about 25-30%. Try that. At least you'll make it through the day.

If it wasn't for Maps I'd be perfectly happy with iOS6. I haven't experienced bugs, it's snappy and a few of the new features for social media are already useful to me.

But Maps is crap. And I use mapping all the time. So it doesn't really matter how good the rest of 6 is. They've downgraded my phone.

I like it a lot. I'm getting sick and tired of people bashing the maps. I love the turn by turn and when you leave the maps it still shows you the turn by turn at the top

Do you think it was a worthwhile upgrade like iOS 5? Or was this just a half finished update trying to come out in time to welcome iPhone 5?

Most of my problems surround the behaviour of mail, and issues with battery life.

If you don't use exchange server, if you don't care about maps, if you can live with your display dulled down (to preserve 4S battery life), then iOS6 might be a worthwhile upgrade.

For me however, the problems with mail alone made me wish I never upgraded. Mail is crucial for me.

There are many documented problems scattered all throughout this forum with iOS6. You just need to see if you'll be affected.

But one thing is for sure: I'll never do a blind update again. Apple's trust in this regard has been seriously dented.

What wifi problems are you having? I only ask because I had wifi issues but was able to find a fix for it.

I suffer from random dropouts! Sitting at home browsing YouTube 50mb of data used just like that. This far into October I've reached data limit already + have had to turn off cellular data because of the drop outs. On ip4 and ios 4 + 5 I was fine !

Hope they fix this issue in 6.1 or 6.01 but probably won't release a point update until maps is better, you + I know it's backend but general public probably don't.

What? Display dulled down? I'm just waiting for the jailbreak to come through and I'll update. But I had no idea the display brightness was being changed by iOS.

Is it dulled during use? Or more aggressively dimed during inactivity?

Running on iPhone 4, I'm disappointed with it because:

- I have not seen any noticeable performance change (in terms of speed, smoothness etc.)
- I am finding apples maps terrible. I used to use google maps a lot and have found myself not bothering with maps anymore. It's a lost feature for me. And I really miss street view, I found it very useful very often.
- The App Store is so hard to use I've again just stopped browsing it.
- I don't like the new music app.
- I think the new dialer looks worse in white than in black. Especially when it half blinds me at night!
- Embedded YouTube videos don't work properly anymore.

To be honest, even without these problems it still probably wouldn't be anything to get excited about. iPhone 4 doesn't get panorama and I don't fully understand Passbook. And from what I understand thatt's not really usable yet anyway as we have to wait for apps to use it.

- Do not disturb is a nice idea but I haven't used it yet and unsure that I will much.
- I like the way you can swipe to reply to a call with a text. However, I wish there as an option where you can choose whether actioning it declines the call immediately or not. Also wish it didn't have to start the message with that default text (can't remember what it says).
- I like that you can insert photos in mail

For me, the cons far outweigh the pros. Maybe it's my fault for having an 'old' phone but i can only speak for my experience. And it was better on ios 5.

Is safari really quicker on iPhone 4?

I ask this question because I've done some side-by-side test with my i4 running 5.1.1 and i4s running iOS 6 (friend's i4s and ones at the apple store). In all cases, I've noticed safari on my i4 loads pages much quicker than those on ios 6. I've run the benchmark tests and the i4s on iOS 6 score higher, but this doesn't seem to translate to real life usage.

Anyone experience this?

I don't have both on the same hardware...and not sure how many people actually do...between processor speed and 4G, iPhone 5 is faster than I expected.

It's a failure.

Everyone I know has had at least one major problem with it.

WiFi problems, MAJOR battery life problems, Facetime problems, freezing, crashing, slower browsing. And this is all on new hardware with 5's!

Tomorrow I have to call Verizon because there is a major data leak with my phone - data usage at over 700 percent of normal rate.

And by the way, why the F weren't they prepared with more lightning cables in stock? I live in a major metropolitan city and can't find any anywhere! It's making adoption pretty difficult.

First world problems, I know. But this is really poor show and makes me think about Android.

There are things I like, such as Do Not Disturb which works great and shared Photostreams; and things I do not like, such as Maps, which are a disaster here in Tokyo, Wifi connections to hotspots only work 25% of the time if that, battery life is half what it once was, the phone crashes often when swiping on a notification, having a seperate app just for Podcasts is odd to me, the music app doesn't allow swipe to delete songs with iTunes match, some songs refuse to play and lock up the music app, opening camera app from home screen is PAINFULLY slow forget snapping the quick pick before it goes away! I also notice the auto brightness is wacked, I love how my iPhone thinks 100% brightness is a great idea in the pitch black as it burns my eyes when laying in bed to read a quick text!

Apple seems to be in the mode of give and take away with poor QA. They give some really nice features or feature concepts, but often they are clumsy and seem half baked or incomplete. Many bugs and they break of remove functions for unknown reasons.

It is also time for an UI upgrade. It is looking dated (IMHO) and so freaking rigid. I mean do I really need to go into an app and select here and there to lower brightness or turn on Do Not Disturb? It is time for shortcuts to most used functions NATIVE in the OS.

What I meant was, turning the slider down to 25-30% in the brightness setting can significantly increase battery life. For whatever reason with iOS6, this setting must be handled differently. Everyone I know with a 4S was complaining about battery life (including me) after the upgrade. You had to reduce the brightness slider setting to get your battery life back. Mine was originally set to about 75% on iOS5.x. After the upgrade I had to set it to about 30% to get battery performance back to where it was.

IOS6 is the best yet.

I rarely used Google Maps so I don't miss it at all, and for the most part find Apple maps much bettor. It seems to boot up much faster, and the info is correct.

So over all IOS6 gets an A+

It's certainly a step forward. BUT, for now, it has a lot of issues that need to be solved. So it's fail for now at least for me.

hm..iOs6 didn't really effected me that much. so i guess it's not that good, but it's not that bad too^^
