Genius Mixes are broken, iTunes Match sucks on iOS
I have exactly the same thing happening on my iOS devices
Don't even bother try ti fix it as I did, it just does not work anymore
here is my communication with apple support on this issue, I haven't got any response to my last two emails sent them yet...
----
Hello,
I was able to fix the Issue with Thunderbolt Drive, it was caused by third party ntfs-3g file system driver which is apparently not compatible with Mavericks.
I was able to manually remove it from the system and drive mounts fine now.
So back to the issue with iTunes, I did following
- upgraded iTines to recently release 10.1.5
- created fresh new library
- Library export to xml
- Renamed and backed up original iTunes folder under Music folder
- Let iTunes create new clean library
- configured everything as it was before
- Imported library from xml (this took more than 8 hours) as the process got stuck several times with iTunes not responding I had to start over several tim
es
Turning on Genius and itunes Match was even slower and the process stalled several times again it took more than 10 hours to complete
Now I have my library restored back and everything seems to work fine on Mac
After library rebuild I turned off the match on iOS
- turn off the iTunes Match
- hard restart the device
- force close of all apps
- turn on the iTunes Match
- genius mixes still don't not work
This whole experience rally sucks
Couple more comments to Itunes Match in general I would appreciate if you would conway this to your product management/development
- Turning iTunes match on is extremely slow
- Once itunes match is turned on on iOS, its impossible to directly push songs to my iOs device for offline listening from computer where the main library resides, only way to get music for offline listening is through the cloud download which is extremely slower compared for example downloading the purchased music directly in itunes store on iOS on the same network, this makes itunes match enabled iOs device almost unusable for listening if on plane/ out 3g or wi-fi network range. Downloading the music to the device is unusably slow even on fast home network (I'm getting 40 MBit download/30 Mbit upload speed on my ios devices on my home network (Verizon Fios)
- Please enable upload of songs to the device over the USB or home wi-fi to avoid cloud download but still keep ability download when outside the home network (sync and backup is already working over wi-fi)
- You have to turn off "Show all music" in settings to be able to delete songs located on the iOs device, this is unnecessary too complicated if I want make some space for other content such as photos
- There should be a smart playlist showing "locally stored songs" and ability to manage what's on the device and in the cloud without need to go to settings and turning off/on "Show all songs"
- Cloud should be bypassed when I'm on my local network where the source library is located this would save not only customer broadband bandwidth, but also load on Apple Content Delivery Network network
- Genius mixes are broken on iOS And I love this feature on my mac, iTunes Radio can replace the genius mixes to some extend but I like to listen to music which is in my library
I think I will switch to Spottily....

Hello,
I tried all the steps you recommended
genius mixes still don't work
I disabled iTunes match on iOS Genius mixes were removed from the list

Enabled Again, Genius mixes appeared again but as before, without artwork
<IMG_0905.jpg>
Tapping on play icon does not start play any music it just shows empty tiles

I even tried to upgrade my macBook pro to just released OSX Mavericks 10.9.2 - bad move!
Idid all the troubleshooting steps again and still no luck. but to add to my frustration
Now my 6TB WD Thunderbolt Duo refuses to mount to my MacBook Pro after Mavericks upgrade. It mounts fine when I boot the same machine from my backup drive with previous Snow Leopard and it mounts fine on MacBook Air also running latest Mavericks.
Issue with thunderbolt is obviously more important to me, not that it shows wrong format as Windows NT even though it's OSX Extended Journaled File System which mounts just fine other macs and my backup Snow leopard image on the same machine. I removed all WD utilities as recommended by the WD forums. But no luck to mount the damn drive to my
I did try reset SMC, NVRAM / PRAM but nothing helps to get the drive working again on my macbook pro.

Hello,
I'm an iTunes Match subscriber, My favorite way to play matched music is to use Genius Mixes which were actually the main reason I subscribed for iTunes Match Service
They suddenly stopped working on all three devices
- iPhone 4 iOS 7.0.4
- iPod touch iOS 6.1.6
- iPad 2 iOS 7.0.6
The Symptoms:
- genius mixes show up on iOs devices, but do not display any artwork
- they display the play icon, but when touching screen to play they they just display flipping animation of empty artwork tiles and blink the screen shortly, after that it displays blank screen and do not play any music
- matched songs in the cloud play fine when I play play from album, songs list or regular playlists
- Everything including genius mixes work fine on my mac book pro 17-inch, Early 2011 OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)
I tried this to troubleshoot
- hard restart of the devices
- upgrade some devices to latest available iOs version (iPod, iPad)
- log out and login to iCloud service on all devices
- turn off and on the iTunes Match on all devices
- Update genius and Update iTunes match in the iTunes on my Mac
Nothing helped to resolve the issue so far.
I contacted support with this issue but they have not been able to address this issue either, they just recommended me to report it over email
I also found on Forums that I'm not the only one having this kind of issue
See:

I hope you will be able to fix this issue quickly as the genius mixes are my favorite way to listen to my music library with iTunes match, especially on iOs devices with limited capacity.
With regards,
JB
