oh goody....

But i wish Apple fixes the Software update..

The user must manually check for updates, weather it checks automatically i dunno, but even it it does it does not notify the user of such updates.

Same with the App Store.... i've never seed it badge the icon informing me... But when i log in, i find updates when i check *few days later*

Both can check automatically and notify you. Software update will do it although sometimes might be a few days after an update has been released. And App Store can do it too if automatic updates are enabled in settings. Or if you don't the badge (if that's enabled in the notification center settings for it) will come up within a day or two of an update becoming available.

an example of IAPs done well is Halfbrick Games Jetpack Joy Ride.

This game is pay to grind less. But you can very easily pay the entire game for zero dollars paid. Blizzard is even offering the single player expansions to be paid with money or in game coins you can get. One of the few iOS (and Mac) games with an ingame currency that does not suck the life out of the game.

Jetpack Joy Ride is the same.
You are paying to grind less. Not paying to get past a paywall (which most freemium games have.

Doesn't Candy Crush Saga also have IAPs to skip the timer?

I believe it only plugs the labels on apps you haven't purchased yet. (EDIT: JAT caught it first)

The before/after screenshots used in this article should be rectified as they show two sets of circumstances and therefore can be confusing. On the left the button says "Free" meaning it has yet to be purchased, while on the right it already has been.

I get notifications all the time. On both iOS and OSX stores. Sure your settings are correct?

I'm afraid you are very wrong about Hearthstone. Beginners are besides the obvious experience difference greatly disadvantaged when playing against each other, especially in ranked mode. People who manage to push forward with only their basic cards but nothing special unlocked will be matched with those who have legendaries, epics and rares, people who either spent serious money or have a sick amount of playtime in this game. I manage to win most of my games quite easily against those who play almost with the same cards unlocked as I have, but I mostly lose against those with superior cards, and I always lose against those with their decks full of bloody rares and epics. The basic cards simply can't keep up with them, and even if you are able to counter some of them, the following legendaries, epics and rares laugh at you while you are dealing with just one of them.
Taken that this is a competitive game, this just feels like chess professionals playing with multiple queens and kings.

Yep ... I'm even done restore and still no badge...

I logged into the App store last night from iOS 7.1.1, and after logging on, the updates icon (was badged but only then)

Was that always the way ? you need to be logged in for it to badge the icon ?

Maybe Apple changed it, because i seem to remember where it badges, even if your not logged in.

You mean you are not logged in into the App Store normally?

Hearthstone is designed so that knowing what each card and card combo does and how RNG heavily affects the game, is worth more than having a specific legendary. You can create a free (lv 10) deck that is relatively competitive on ranked. I did that with a mage. If you don't like the basic cards, maybe you don't understand the power they have. Legendary cards are not "I Win" cards. Tirion and Rag being the possible exceptions.

Hearthstone is pay to grind less as I said above. And it is an excellent way to do IAP. Your comment infers that you really don't understand the game at all.

I don't see how you could get notifications if you aren't logged in. The app doesn't query your phone or computer to see what you've purchased, it queries your Apple account.

It does in no way infer that I am not knowledgable of how to play that game, the only facts here are that you and I have different opinions. Like I said, I cannot remember encountering an enemy with cards of similar rarity, but I always have a hard time with those who have their decks filled with top-notch expert cards.

If two different neutral cards have identical stats and mana costs, but one has one or more effects added on top, then the other card is simply inferior. So there really is something I don't understand, and that is you ignoring things like these which you cannot deny are facts, and still defending the game's non-existing balance between basic cards and unlockables. I do not deny that cards within the same bracket and rarity are intended to be balanced, and I do not criticize that certain balance.

Those legendary, epics and rares all exist for a reason (and they are stronger for a reason), and so do basic and more common cards. And people with totally different unlocked cards are not matched with those of who have the same stuff unlocked and the same skill, even if that was possible. My opinion is that this is Blizzard trying to be economic. You simply cannot define a F2P game as balanced, when dudes who put feed the machine with money have simply better cards than poor dudes or ones that do not feel like spending cash on a savegame.

If you feel telling someone that he or she doesn't know Jack about something, then make bloody sure that you are right about it. Hence it may still not be polite, as a remaining possibility of that being wrong is a possibility of having rushed out an insult. So congratz, you are the first one I notice to be rude on MacRumors for not even fanboyism.

"Those legendary, epics and rares all exist for a reason (and they are stronger for a reason)"
Not so. Most of the basic cards are very powerful if you know what to do with them. Also card synergy > individual card value, most of the time. Example is, I removed Cairne, Illidan and Deathwing from my hunter deck and replaced them with 2-3 mana beasts. Individually those beasts are exponentially weaker. But within the hunter deck they synergised much better and made the deck stronger overall.

If you took what I said as an insult (I think you did), I am sorry. What you said in parts was 100% wrong. And I wanted to let you know your mistakes in what you said. I guess I said that too harshly.

"If two different neutral cards have identical stats and mana costs, but one has one or more effects added on top, then the other card is simply inferior."
Not always so. I will provide an example.
Mad Bomber - Deal 3 shots of 1 damage randomly to any character, 3 mana, 3/2
Bloodfen Raptor - Beast, 3 mana 3/2

A lot of people (myself included) prefer not to have that mad bomber battlecry. it's very RNG. Some like it, some do not. I'd rather take the raptor. But it's all about your deck make up. And also very rarely is there ever that scenario happening. Most times you have better card stats or a nice battlecry. So you have to choose one or the other.

Also all legendary cards have an easy way to beat them. High damage spells and kill cards and silence (owl) exists for everyone. Only a couple of legendaries are really OP. The rest can be dealt with just ok. It's more about your hand RNG. If you don't get the cards you need when you need them most times you won't win.

If you feel telling someone that he or she doesn't know Jack about something, then make bloody sure that you are right about it.
I was correct in what I said. Hearthstone has a great IAP. It's all about pay to grind more and not pay to win. You can get a lot of good cards without paying a cent if you have the time.

you and I have different opinions
Yes we do. But in this post now I am talking facts.

umm.. ok .. maybe my mind may be slipping, but i thought it was badge the icon first to show u have updates, then you login to download.

I guess i was wrong....
