For iPad 4 owners I'm delighted to say that the quality of the UI, animations, speed is identical to Jonny's video. On iOS 7 the iPad 4 and Air are near indistinguishable in terms of UI performance. 7.1 is a huge leap from 7.0.4.

And Jonny, great video. Informative and to the point.

What annoys me the most about the music application is that whenever you want to listen to an album, you have to wait for the "show complete album" to load before you can click a song to listen to it. At least for me.

Agreed, Apple really needs to hurry up! iOS7 for me, is just not a pleasurable experience on iPhone or iPad (latest hardware).

I wouldnt say its not a pleasurable experience. I still love iOS 7. There are just a LOT of little bugs and annoyances that just is ver "un-apple" like.

As far as release. All the rumors say March but this doesnt really make much sense in my opinion. 7.1 beta 3 is really really stable and right now its more stable that 7.0.4 on my iPad. So its good enough to be a keeper on my iPad air. Which is why I cant see there being more than one more beta. Even the "known issues" log published on various indicates just a small handful of known bugs.

Fair enough. But for me it's not pleasurable. Don't get me wrong, I love how everything is fast on my new 5S and the lightness and quality of the screen on my air.

But the fact I've had reboots on both devices (a first for my iOS devices) app crashes, and freezes (for minutes on my 5s) means I don't care how lovely or functional it looks, it simply makes the experience unpleasurable!

Yes, I completely agree. I can deal with a little choppiness but the reboots are just not good.

Everyone can rest assured that A LOT of these issues are close to or completely eliminated in 7.1.

As a little test I went back to 7.0.4 for a bit for comparison and while its not horrible, it now feels "broken" after using 7.1 for a few days. Its kinda crazy because I never felt the air was slow or that bad even with animations until now. I guess I just got used to it over the months.

Sounds pretty promising. Thanks for posting your findings!
id like to second Mikey's comments. VERY much appreciated. Your time and effort

When is this coming out? Release it already Apple, geez.

It's beta. There's absolutely NO reason to rush the process. First major 'point' release. I'd rather wait an extra couple weeks, month...maybe two. Stability. That's the focus I'm sure. And it's top dog on Apple's board of 'get it done!' I'm sure.

Absolutely disagree. Same. All the latest A7 iOS devices. I'm about 90% stable and it's FAR from a 'less than pleasurable experience' in .04. I can't believe anyone would be unhappy with these new sets of tabs and phones. The A7, Air and rMini are extraordinary accomplishments in engineering. iOS 7 is a brand. New. Baby. Give it a lil time. Patience, it's a virtue. The OP is providing extremely positive information. Applaud him;)

Excellent stuff Jonny. :)

I don't like the shift key animation. You are correct it is somewhat confusing as it's backwards now. The bold font doesn't bother me either. Animations look fluid.

The only thing that annoys me is that someone I believe mentioned that a previous beta, Apple had a dark theme keyboard. Now they have reverted back to the white keyboard. I much prefer the dark keyboard they use.

Maybe we'll get a choice? Looks like Apple is doing is doing some pretty cool stuff with keyboards.

Download dJay. Even if you're NOT a DJ, it's an extremely good 'playback' program and they often drop the price to a buck

You may have a bad unit. Since .02 I've had absolutely NO crashing, freezing and an extremely rare re-spring of an app. Typically it's the apps fault as it's repeatable and hasn't been updated to iOS 7 compatibility. You may want to stop by an Apple store and have them run diagnostics in your phone

I'm pretty sure I haven't had 3 bad units. My first 5s crashed very frequently when opening the camera app (I'm talking restart here) and so had it replaced. This was on .02 since then .04 came out a few days after my 5S and whilst it's been a lot better, there has still been freezes lookups, and crashes (again on camera app). These were all set up as new phones (not that I should have to do that)

The third device where I've had these freezes and lookups, has been on my Air, which is a completely different device, and as far as I'm concerned having 3 different devices locking up, restarting etc. is more down to ios7 than it is to the luck of poor hardware. If .1 doesn't sort things then yes, Apple store will be seeing more of me, but for now I'm not buying it's hardware.

Thanks for the update. If I can find the time, it sounds like I need to write my own music app.

I use the Denon Audio app.. works just like the iOS 6 version, except that it has built-in Tune-in Radio, a dark theme, and a queuing system.

Can Apple just release this damn thing already? Jesus christ. Sometime this decade would be nice!!!
