I understand a few of Apple fans get pissed off by those who jailbreak, use 3rd party accessories.

Rest assured my iphone and my ipad is working fine with 7.0.4. I dont need 7.1 and will continue to enjoy my Jailbroken idevices, enclosed in $5 smart covers while charging them on $2 lightning cables i got off ebay. :)

People need to stop getting their panties in a bunch. No one said the jailbreakers are holding out until iOS 8. They'll have another exploit soon enough, and the 7.1 break will come a month or two after launch.

idiots, stupids, plain idiots, damn stupids. they just spoiled a good stable version with a jailbreak for early coming money from china. idiots.

Depending on the functionality of the app, you can usually just turn on Airplane mode before launching it. Rovio Games for instance (Bejeweled, Angry Birds) are notorious for distracting video and banner ads, but are Ad-free without. Granted, this won't work if a particular app requires internet.

The app requires the internet so this won't work, but thanks anyways.

I don't JB my iPhone or iPad to change it's look but to add things to it like the adblocker for my 5S/iPad and iBlacklist for my 5S because the iOS does not have an actual call blocker, it just sends calls to voicemail. If Apple ever does add the ability to block calls, I won't need to JB it ever again.

this is why they should have waited until 7.1 was out of beta to release the jailbreak

Somebody would then say if they had "this is why they should have waited until 7.2 was out of beta to release the jailbreak"

It's only annoying because it was released when it was but we have to remember that the jail breakers are always going to be one step behind no matter what they do.

You mean this button right here?

I can't use 7.0.4 after using 7.1 and not even a jailbreak is enough to make me stick with slower UI animations and broken gesture animations on iPad.

Should have waited, but the egos at play in the jaikbreak world have messed it up for everyone else.

Just install iOS 7 Adrenaline. I've been using that since the first day I jailbroke and can't use iOS without it now. The animations are quick and snappy, just as they should be. Use that and you can have the best of both worlds (fast UI and a jailbreak).

As for the broken gesture animations you speak of, I don't know anything about that, but it might be something that can be fixed by jailbreak also. Reddit's /r/jailbreak section is a good place to make a request for a fix.

Yes, that button right there. All it does is send calls to voicemail and prevents the phone from ringing. There is no true call blocking on the iPhone.
What is the effective difference between the call going to voicemail vs not if in either case you are not notified about the call or any resulting voicemail (if there is one)?

If someone is harassing you and you want to block the call, selecting block call for their number will not prevent them from being able to call you. They can now harass you through voicemail. You will not get a notification that you have a voicemail but it still show up.

And of course, you still get a red badge for the call on the phone icon and in the pull down.

You shouldn't be getting any badges or notifications for blocked calls and/or their voicemails.

But you can easily just ignore that if not even simply delete it without doing anything. It's bit the same as not even having the option to leave a voicemail, but effectively it shouldn't be that much different to not deal with the voicemail.

That's right but this isn't a true call blocker just the one on Android phones, it works the same way.

This is why I still use iBlacklist.

This is why I don’t JB (it’s been a long time since I have).

I can appreciate some of the tweaks, it’s a pretty simple process, but I can’t have constant version management issues with a device that’s business (and personal) critical (it’s not unlike a HackInt0sh from my perspective).
If you have "critical" functions, you have constant version management issues, anyway. I always wait on as many upgrades as possible to make sure they will work for me, on all systems.

This story is why I am still on iOS 6.

The adblocker I use
Which is it? Any side effects? I have not gone down this road, but I want to.

How much is Apple doing these days to stop Hackintosh installations? Are they fairly hands-off, not really minding the hackintosh world, or are they actively trying to make it hard to install OS X on non-Apple hardware?

I ask because that's pretty damn impressive. Although I'm happy with my iMac it's nice to know I could build something like this if I wanted to.

Not true. A properly planned and built Hackintosh is more reliable when compared to a Jailbroken iDevice. The above machine runs Mavericks with EVERYTHING working 100% out of the box except for sound... until I installed 1 kext (driver). Because of the vanilla installation with Chimera, updates won't even break this machine.

$1400
Intel Core i7-4770K
Gigabyte Mini-ITX Motherboard
Gigabyte Nvidia Geforce GTX 760
8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
120GB Samsung 840 EVO Solid State Drives (2... 1 for OSX, 1 for Windows 7)
1GB Segate 2.5" HDD
500 Watt Corsair modular power supply
BitFenix Prodigy ITX case (Orange)
Dell U2412M IPS Monitor 1920x1200
Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 for Mac
Apple Magic Trackpad

A LOT cheaper and better than a comparable iMac.

Animation speeds can be completely customized with jailbreak, which I would argue is even better than 7.1's "faster" animations. I use Accelerate "Superman" setting and I bet it is faster than 7.1.

I for one am glad they did not wait: No matter when you release the Jailbreak, Apple will always have an update "just around the corner" with more "UI tweaks" (that you don't even need if you jailbreak). So what are we suppose to do, wait until iphone 6 comes out? This argument is silly, just release the jailbreak when you have it ready, let people enjoy it while they can and choose if they want to upgrade or not.

Yes the speeds can be altered with a tweak. The quality of the pinch to close animation on iPad cannot be reprogrammed to not look like **** via a Cydia tweak.

Constantly jailbreaking and updating and waiting for the next jailbreak isn't worth it for me It was fun for a while, but apple added all the features I feel I need. :apple:

Much hasn't changed since Leopard. I don't think they care that much. Hackintoshing is almost like a gateway drug that gets you hooked on Apple... and then you may buy an iPhone, iPad... etc.

I don't think they're particularly concerned about individuals building their own Hackintoshes. As 1080p notes, Hackintoshes are known to be a gateway into the ecosystem. However, anyone attempting to monetise the hobby is very likely to find themselves in a world of pain in short order. And rightly so.

*snip*

I don't get pissed off by jailbreakers but I'm always very pleased when Apple block their exploits. Any exploit that can be used to jailbreak iOS devices can equally be used by criminals and/or government snoops to gain unauthorised access.

I think it's great that there's a cadre of unpaid hackers who work tirelessly to supplement Apple's security teams. The more exploits that are used for jailbreaking and then reverse engineered and fixed, the better iOS security becomes.
