iOS 7.1 delete browser history

I spent over 2 hrs last night trying to delete my browser history in safari, how can I delete it?? The clear history option in settings is grayed out and will not function, anyone? Help?

For me, that option is greyed out right after I've cleared history. Did you just clear your history?
 
All my history is still there in my history folder and option is greyed out..i looks like a bug to me. Installed ios 7.1 on 32gb 5S

Issue remains after a hard reset and reboot. My history is still there and notice on the bottom right that clear is greyed out (can't choose it) grrr!

Shall I move on to chrome or reinstall in dfu or wait for 7.1.1...choices, choices

I won't even mention private browsing..that option is unavailable in 7.1
 
I don't see the private option anywhere, in 7.0 it was on bottom left of safari tab, now it's gone and don't see it anywhere. Maybe my download was incomplete somehow? I installed about 30min after availability. Kind of disappointed that Apple would release this update w so many loose ends.

Something doesn't seem right in one way or another on your end it would appear--it's definitely there and works on my iPhone 5.
 
Interesting, thanks C DM. I will reinstall the OS in dfu and see if the option appears. If not it is definitely a bug for 5S. My device was swapped about 2 weeks ago by apple so it's hard to believe it's somehow hardware related.
 
Maybe OTA update messed something up. When I did OTA, the "Send as SMS" option was missing in the iMessage settings on my phone.

Private browsing appears on the bottom left when you hit the tab view in Safari.
 
Doctor 11, clearing cookies and data is available in settings

But clearing history is unavailable..

Anitramane, no porn of course..just OCD w my data, it's crippling because it's been a daily habit for the last 3 yrs w my iphone.

I'm sure someone will encounter this issue, I'll update you all after I reinstall OS in dfu later today
 
i installed 7.1 final (after using beta 5) and I'm able to delete the browser history from within the bookmarks/history menu and the safari settings menu without an issue. i installed OTA, no issues here.
 
David126: just reset your settings and it will solve the problem. It solved mine...

how can I get all my safari history back??? I deleted all safari history & cache??? Is it saved anywhere else on my mac????? Is there any way to check????
 
I read ur issue went, but next time try this too.. Settings>>general>> usage>> safari app >> edit history... U can clear ur histry like that too
 
Hi guys I have the same problem I can't clear out history can u tell me how could I reinstall ios7.1
