Believe it or not, I don't find that annoying either. It was a gear looking thing, it still is. Never understood this all the sudden obsession with icons.

Actually, if they just magnified the icon they use for "General" within Settings and used that, it would be fine. The current gear-within-a-gear look is ugly, IMO. And I guess the reason there's a sudden obsession with icons is that we've suddenly been presented with some pretty ugly icons.

When you say "we've" you also got to take into consideration the fact that Ugly and Beauty are subjective matters.

Very true. I happen to think the weather and mail icons look great, but I think I'm in the minority on that. I join the majority in thinking Safari and settings look hideous. :)

Interesting statistic! Care to share the source? Because on the planet where I live the majority have not had the chance to play with iOS 7 yet to judge it properly.

No, they haven't. In fact, the majority of people on the planet where you live will probably never even see iOS 7. Of those who will see it, most haven't yet.

When I spoke of the "majority," I wasn't referring to the entire population of your home planet, nor to the group of people who will eventually see iOS 7, nor even to the group of people who have already seen it. I was referring to the people who have seen it and who have expressed an opinion about the new icons. And, since I have probably not read every single written opinion about the new icons, I was referring to the subset of all written opinions that I have actually read myself.

So, let me be more precise: Of those who have expressed an opinion about the new iOS 7 icons, most of the ones I have read dislike the Safari and Settings icons. I agree with them.

So does this thing really go away? I've noticed that it isn't always there. Sometimes I'll pull down NC and it'll only appear after it's all the way down.

Now that's more like it. I don't agree or disagree with them. They have opinion and that's all. But let's be honest! Of all these who have used iOS, you and I have mostly heard the voice of these who had something negative to say. That kind of voice is always LOUDER!

People who are happy with it don't give a toss and probably they are the majority. They have nothing to cry for on all internet corners.

Yeah it seems to be always there if/when you actually go all the way down on the "Today" tab of NC. Not sure if perhaps people think it disappears because they don't go all the way down in that tab, or if there's something else involved (and it actually disappears for some people for some reason, but not for others).

Perhaps the stranger thing about it is that it's still there even if you don't have weather and stock (and even traffic) information enabled--basically just calendar/events/reminder-related items. Doesn't seem like it would make sense for it to be there when no Yahoo! data is being used/provided. Perhaps just a bug of some sort as it's still in beta after all.

I have calenders and stocks turned off so when I pull down NC I see it immediately, except for the times I don't see it and then it just fades in. For the split second it isn't there, I think it's finally disappeared.

You raise a good point. People are more apt to criticize than to praise, and we've all seen plenty of "these icons all suck!" posts. I've been more interested to read the ones that offer a more thoughtful critique. There have been many posts in which the author praises some of the icons and criticizes others. I've written some myself! :)

Be that as it may, we're off topic here, so I'll shut up now.

Back to the original topic, I just read that starting today Yahoo will change its logo everyday for 30 days when the final new logo is revealed on September 5th.

So at least we know the tagline will change in some way, shape or form... even though everyone will undoubtedly hate it.

If you turn off today summary in notification centre settings that text disappears.

Is anyone else annoyed by the new Yahoo announcement i guess you can say in the notification center? I understand that they wanna make sure people know its by yahoo, but it just looks so bad and annoying

Well they're gonna have to change it anyway because Yahoo! is going to have a new identity.

Is there a trick to remove the info? It disappeared on my iPad after a while with the Final iOS, but it's still there on the iPhone.
