My battery life is fine on my iPad 2:

Your picture shows that you're hardly using any of your storage, which gives me the assumption that you don't have many apps installed. Apps that could possibly lower your battery life tremendously by constantly sending notifications, polling a server, etc.

While I agree that's pretty damned good battery life, this doesn't really reflect the problems that people who do have many applications installed are seeing.

Jesus Christ!!!!!!
Now I remember why I don't come into these forums
I've had the 4...the 4s and I now have had the 5 for a year
And I've never......NEVER had any of these issues that you guys in these forums complain about all the time
I swear, it seems that you guys live in these forums just complaining to no end about crap all the time.
Nothing Apple ever does is good enough.
You know, you reach a point where all the earth shattering improvements aren't there anymore
Things "plane" out.
I knew this was gonna be a topic before it was even seeded to public
How did I know
Because ever iPhone I have had this site has had people complaining to no end about battery life being worse with every new phone or iOS update!!!!
When in reality, ever new release from either the phone or iOS I have gotten better life or the same
And here's the problem, no one uses their phone exactly the same all the time
If I'm home, I get 10hrs usage out of my 5
If I'm in a **** area, signal low, it sucks!!!!
Does anyone ever just use their phone
Or does everyone just sit in these forums and complain all the time.
I come to this site for useful info
But the endless complaining is tiring

While I agree with the sentiment of your post...it was WAY more entertaining when I pictured you as 'Leave Britney Alone!' guy reading it.

I'll say it again... you understand that the GM is what the public is going to be downloading right?

Way to miss my point with the car argument. I couldn't care less if it's running wonderfully for YOU. Others are not experiencing the same thing.

And I'll say it again
It doesn't matter what GM is....I'm saying the software hasn't been open to public but an hour and there was already battery life complaints before it was ever released for download to public
I don't even know what GM is....but it wasn't made available to me until an hour ago
Yet so many people are already pissing and moaning
Get a life people
I get your point, but using a car was useless
Again, there's absolutely nothing mechanical one this phone
So your argument makes no sense
A guy on this site was calling a design feature a "bug" just because it wasn't what he liked
I knew better than to check these forums.
The front page is all I need.
These forums are nothing more than complaint room anymore.
I was hoping to see users with things like liked....but I should've known, Apple can't please any of the Internet dwellers

I have no idea who or what you're talking about
Again, way too much time spent trolling Internet I guess
I gotta get back to reality, this forum is too much

I can't agree with you more. Every time I come to these forums, it's the same complaining nonsense from the same people.

The afternoon of a new iOS release date, people are already complaining of battery life... on the operating system they've had installed for a couple of hours. Thank shiiiiit that the people here are not in charge of being the world's scientists.

could you imagine if everything was perfect?

Too frightening to contemplate. End of the world. :D

Some people have had the developer copy for awhile now. I don't disagree with you but just sayin'

I love how iOS 7 has been out for less than 3 hours, people are busy playing with it if they have it and are complaining their battery isn't lasting long. Maybe it's because for the last 3 hours you have been doing an OS install and busy playing with it where as normally you would just leave your phone in the background and use it less?

I only have apps, no music / movies yet. I have yet to sync everything media related since I haven't bother to do it yet (clean install, too many updates since iOS 5). So the 4,4 gigs are from the apps (about 30).

I want to know how you get 8 hours usage at all. On any IOS. Best I can do is about 5 hours usage. But thats plenty enough to get me through the day so I can't complain

Can I trouble people to identify what phone they are running iOS 7 on? I have a 4 and am worried that it will cripple my battery when I update (I'm only getting a few hours as it is now).

I'm working my way to a 5S so perhaps it isn't worth the upgrade for a few weeks...

Thanks!

As with all updates a few days are required for the OS to settle down. I'm sure it will get better!

i'm finding better battery life. Not even kidding. I've been playing with this non stop for past hour or so and battery life barely moved.

The battey life is definitely worse, and they aren't the only ones to notice it. Anandtech noticed it, and Gizmodo noticed. Stop the delusional thinking and just accept it already, it's not a deal breaker. But my 5 took a noticeable hit, around 25% actually.

I've been on all the betas and battery life is definitely noticeably worse for me too. On pre-iOS 7 I would typically average about 5 hours usage time prior to the 20% warning. On iOS 7 I get about 4 hours.

There is a major battery life problem on my iPhone 4S.

After the upgrade I was at about 90% battery life. In about 5 hours of lite usage after I upgraded, I was at 20%. About 15 minutes later I was at 10%. I could watch the battery usage drop 1% every minute.

I powered the phone off and on and then it immediately shut down and claimed it needed to be charged.

Normally I have 50% battery life by the time I get home. There is definitely a problem. I updated OTA.

Ah, another benchmark thread. When I use my phone like their benchmark test I'll give it some credibility. Off the top of my head I would be surprised if they are able to configure iOS 7 to replicate an iOS 6 environment. But they put their drinking bird on the refresh button and iOS 7 sucks. Meh. Fortunately, my battery life is better in iOS 7 using my same apps and using it the same way I did with iOS 6.

All I know is when I updated from 6.1.2 to 6.1.4, my battery life got noticably worse overnight and I started having issues where my phone would randomly get super hot and drain about 20-25% of my battery life in the course of 30 minutes. Since I can't move backward (to 6.1.2), I'd much rather move forward.

I hate when people complain about battery life hours after updating but I can't help myself. It wasn't nearly this bad on Beta 5.

iOS 7 drains battery faster than iOS 6

Here's how screwed up the battery is. After my iPhone shut down due to the battery draining and telling me I needed to plug in, I tried turning it on about 20 minutes later.

It powered on at 8%, but shut down the moment I unlocked the screen. Again it said I needed to plug in and again I waited. I managed to turn it on again at 6% and this time I sat at the lock screen using Siri for a while and it never shut off, until I tapped on something and tried to unlock my phone. Then it shut off again.

When I got home, I plugged it in and after a about 2 minutes it was at 20%. Calibration is way off.

On a related note, iOS now keeps track of your "favorite locations". Another battery drain that should be shut off.

My battery on ip5 feels like as if it was broken now on ios7! I'm considering bringing it to the store, because I wake up in the morning, it has 53%. I make one 5 minute phonecall: 39%! Seriously??!
