Okay so i'm considering updating to iOS7 beta tonight, but i'm going abroad for a week from July 7th and will have no access to the internet.

If i upgrade to the beta, and when im on holiday the beta 2 comes out, will my phone be unusable if i don't update?

Or do i have no choice but to update to beta 2?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Betas are used for developers to test apps.
I don't care or nor am I going to debate whether you being a developer is an important issue here or not.
But since you said you are going abroad, I'm sure using a STABLE version iOS beats having a version of iOS that has the potential to screw things up.

You are not going to test your iOS apps when you go on a holiday, right?
Therefore, stick to iOS 6.

Oh yeah, I think it is compulsory to update to beta 2 .

Yeah i see where you're coming from...
However i was going to start testing apps prior to going on holiday, but wasn't sure whether the beta updates were mandatory or not.
I think ill wait till after im back

thanks!

Ok Im sure you came on here for some simple advice, not innuendoes about whether or not have a developer account. 70% of the people here "testing" the beta as Callofduty puts it, are not developers. SOME PEOPLE!! Ok sorry I had to rant. Now on to the advice:

Whens your vacation? From what I hear iOS 7 betas update about every 2-3 weeks. If you have a developer account than you will receive the update no problem, whether it is OTA or not I have no idea and I dont think anyone does. It has before for different betas.

Good luck!

I'm not 100% sure, but normally iOS beta's come out every couple of weeks, so beta 2 would almost be certain to come out before you leave. Have fun by the way!!

It really doesn't hurt to be helpful and answer questions whenever you can

I am 100% sure my comments are not meant to be insulting to the OP.
I am sorry and I apologize if it sounds offensive to you. I'm just stating what I strongly feel.

I did not mean any harm to the OP. Perhaps I am wrong to add in the part about the developers part, I just wanted to state how I feel. If you still think I do, I would like to apologize for making u rant.

I depart little England for two weeks very soon. I plan on imaging my iPhone 5 back to iOS6 just for optimal battery life and to prevent any obscure, unseen, probably-wont-happen disasters that may charge me a fortune. But, hey, I'm paranoid ;)

I will leave England tomorrow and away for 2 weeks. Not downgrading to iOS 6, am almost sure the second beta will surface sometime next week. So if the update is OTA that should make things easy.

I wouldn't want to travel abroad on such an unstable beta, but that's just me.

The answer to your question is this; iOS 7 expires on July 24th. If you are unable to update to beta 2 before that time, your phone will stop working.

You don't need to install beta 2 right away... Beta 1 will expire a while after beta 2 comes out.
