Just downloaded IOS 7.
Typing a message in the keyboard has about a 3 or 4 sec. delay then all the pressed letters appear.

Same if I try to amend a contact name.

A long delay in response time and no click noise when the keypad is pressed

For me on an iPhone 4S, this is quite unusable.

Had to take the lock code off for the same reason!
A long delay to get to the main screen.

Anyone else getting this?

Thanks.

No.....not having this problem at all. The keyboard seems just as fast as it was in iOS 6.

Its nice to know Apple didn't listen to their beta customers. The slow keyboard was present in beta 1-6. Exactly why I didn't update this morning on my 4S.

Problem been there since beta 1, all of us filed bugs about it, Apple didn't listen.

my iPad 3 is virtually useless because of that

Restart your phone, and if that doesn't do it, reset your settings.

Seems like some experience this kind of thing (at least temporarily after updating), but most do not.

Solution 1 is to Reset All Settings. I had this issue with my iPhone 5 on Beta 1, I reset all settings, and it went away. Haven't had the issue since.

Solution 2 is to try a complete restore, by clicking restore in iTunes.

Solution 3 is to try a full DFU Restore, by entering DFU mode.

Also, right after the update it starts downloading all the app updates if you did not already in iTunes. There is an option to turn off background downloading.

Guys, I cured my problem with Reset All Settings.

Keypad fully functional now. No longer running slow.

Many thanks to you all for the 'cure'.

Collective wisdom is priceless!

I'm on an iPhone 4, and my problem wasn't so much a slow keyboard, but every 30 seconds or so the keyboard would pause for about 10 seconds or so. It would still register key commands but only process them after the pause, spitting them out all at once.

The fix was turning off automatic app updates. I guess that's a big enough process to keep the keyboard from working properly. Kinda surprising that it was overlooked- the problem seems to be pretty prevalent.

If Reset All Settings was the real answer to this problem, why has performance improved with each release during the course of the Beta programme?

In the early Betas it was pretty poor, now the keyboard is erratic and does slow occasionally, but nowhere near as much.

Still too much for a public release product though.

Apple will fix this soon I suspect now it's out of Beta.

Keyboard is not slow. Did you do a clean restore?

I have a 4S and iPad 2, both on iOS 7 and it does lag but not as exaggerated as those saying 3-4s [maybe you're using an iPhone 3GS/4?:p]

What I don't like about it [bigger issue IMO] is that while the main apple apps have the updated keyboard, the other apps [ie. LINE] are still using the old iOS keyboard skin

Solution / Fix

Hi !

Don't panic, this is no "iOS 7 is full of crap" issue. Just keyboard settings overlapping. The solution is easy : Reset all settings, reboot, done.

I had this issue on iOS 7 Beta 6 OTA update.

Again, no panic.

Had the same problem with my 4S, did the Reset all settings, and now it works great! Thanks, all!
