I think it is a good update that brings many desired features (borrowed from other sources like Android, WebOS, Jailbreak comm., etc).
However, the novelty wears off fast (at least for me).
While watching Apple's presentations, I couldn't wait to see the parallax in action. In reality, it's too subtle to notice, and gets old quick.
At this point, there are too many bugs in the beta for me to judge the revamp as a whole. Many things don't work properly, and there is a ton of battery drain. So I will come to a final conclusion later.
But for now, I am ready to go back to ios6 already. After only 1 night of fun.
Here are some bugs that I just can't deal with:
1. battery drain
2. False positives/negatives for pull down to search and swipe back (I don't think they can ever fix this as these were prevalent in the cydia tweak too, which was pretty well tested and updated).
And the design changes I hate:
1. The dialer. WTF is this? I'm pretty sure I saw this on a windows phone or some Android developer's theme. Hideous!
2. Messages. Again, wtf? This looks just like Windows phone. It's ugly imo.
Other than that, it's a nice update. Once it becomes stable, I think it will be the best iOS ever. But there are some questionable designs I think should be changed.
