ios 7 screen not turning off when listening to voicemail

1. Press Play on the voicemail
2. Hold phone up to ear.
3. Screen does not shut off.
4. Voicemail eventually stops playing because my ear or cheek hits the display.

Screen shuts off during regular phone calls though... Any ideas?

Yep, speaker is off. The voicemail plays through the earpiece. I'm running 7.0.3 still.
