Hopefully someone here can help me...

My iCloud always shows my backup as being 4.8GB, even with EVERYTHING turned off. After downloading iOS 7 I figured out the problem: I have 4.8 GB of "Messages (Saved)". This is even after deleting ALL my messages. I'm not sure what this could be. I tried PhoneCleaner, i FunBox, and everything else I can find, but I can't find a way to access or view these messages to delete them. Could someone help me? I can't back anything up to iCloud with it like this.

Mine shows the exact same thing. I've had a problem for a while now with missing space, and that's probably the problem. Same 4.7GB taken up by messages (saved) anyone figure out what this is? I've also deleted all my texts and old voicemails, still no change. It stinks, I can't even fit my music an photos on! I want my space back!

same here.

i would expect a button for deleting all saved messages, similar to how some apps have a Delete Documents or such buried in settings somewhere..

there are hundreds and thousands of texts so deleting them manually is not viable.

14,5 GB mail usage

mine shows 14,5 GB ......

is this a bug in counting...
or is this space really used?

i deleted almost all mails already,
but that didn't help.

Search the forum, or my previous posts. The solution has been posted several times in this forum the past few days.

Search tip: ibackupbot :)

my problem is with the Mail app not with the Message app.

do i need to dig in the system with iBackupBot and delete things?
How scary..

I better wait for Apple to come with a fix..

In the mail app, you need to either change the sync dates (for instance, choose to only sync the past 30 days worth of emails) or simply delete old emails.

I'm in the same boat. I was looking for that one "delete all" button too.

I spoke to Apple today about this problem and the senior supervisor was completely baffled as to why deleted messages are showing saved that I can't delete - ridiculous! Using up too much storage and every new message that I delete then gets saved.

----------

Go to Message app and delete all conversations?

That doesn't work, they still get saved and are rapidly increasing my usage.

Me too!

thanks for helping!

mail sync is on the 'last 2 weeks' setting
and i deleted almost all old mails already.

still showing 14,5 GB :-(

Wow, that is a lot. I'm sorry, I won't be in front of a computer for at least a few days so I won't be able to help you any more. But I guess someone else will be able to figure out where the mail attachments are stored so you can delete them.

Has anyone tried deleting the entire mail account and setting it up again with only syncing for 30 days?

Try the PhoneClean app if you have a Mac. It works awesome and it's free. It gets rid of all the junk on the phone, which is usually the "Other" category.

Wow that's crazy. I only have 250MB of messages. Maybe no one loves me haha. But yeah, I generally don't delete any messages, and I have some "chats" that go all the way back to my iPhone 3G days.

Tried PhoneClean and got 1,8GB more space
but nothing from the Mail usage.. still 14,5 GB ..

Ah, sorry. It was worth a shot though, and now you have a nice program that will get rid of the clutter when you need it.

Too late now... but next time... did you clear the "Trash" folder? That's where I found my huge stash of mbs hiding :)
