iOS 8.3 new Apple Pay sound

I was shopping for groceries, and I tapped my phone to the reader only to notice the confirmation sound is now higher pitched.

Is this due to the new Apple Pay sound on Apple Watch? This might have been like this since 8.2, but I don't know since my phone is on silent 90% of the time.

Haha, many of us probably don't know as we've only used Apple Pay a few times. Sigh…I guess that's what I get for living in a smallish college town.
