I'm also looking for an alternative music player. I know there are lots out there. But to be specific it has to have a custom equaliser that i can control within the app and the usual ability to add a playlist, add songs, edit a Playlist, etc.

Many thanks.

Spotify does this and a lot more, but I'm assuming you want a music app for your purchased tracks. TuneShell is the closest I could find to your requirements.

Thank you for the suggestion on an music player. I shall try it once i get an iPhone.

If i use the normal Messages app and sending my photos to an Android phone does that mean its in the form of MMS? If we are talking about compressed files and sending 5 (or more photos at a time) which is the ideal/practical way?

I want to discuss about storage. Am i correct in saying a 16GB iPhone will only have roughly 12GB available? I also heard about this "controversy" that iOS 8.2 was so big that it took up literary more than half of the total 16GB capacity. True?

Also, i'm a bit short of cash and looking for a used/unlocked iPhone on Ebay. But i heard that if the buyer has connected it to iTunes & iCloud once i won't be able to use them anymore. True? Would a normal unlocked iPhone be fine?

I'm on the O2 network. is it best to get a "locked" O2 iPhone?

I got a 16gb model a few weeks ago to try to see what iOS was like now and it has 12gb free I think. I am send it back tomorrow to EE because I have decided to keep it and I'm getting a 128gb

As for the iCloud problem as far as I know once the person your buying from has turned off find my phone it is fine for you to sign in with your id. When I got the return bag from EE on Friday it said that before I reset the phone to factory fresh I had to turn off find my phone.

It doesn't matter if it is locked or not for updates with iOS because it is not carrier dependent but I would still try to get a sim free phone. Also I'm sure you know but be careful where and who you buy from as there are some shady scumbags out there.

Ok.

But let's just say the seller forgot to turn-off the Find my iPhone feature but has factory reset the thing can i still use it i.e. activate the phone, use my Apple log-in, iTunes, Find my iPhone, etc.?

Generally a factory reset would require Find My iPhone to be turned off at some point in that reset process.

So, does that mean if one is factory resetting it will there be a prompt to turn off Find my iPhone?

And if the person did turned if off will i be able to use the iPhone with all its functions & features as normal?

Also, i am curious as to what reasons a phone could be "locked" during the time it is being used?

Yes that's basically what it means.

I'm not sure what you mean by the phone being locked when it's being used. If you logged into your iCloud account and there are no other iCloud accounts on the device then your account is the only one that has any control over it.

If i want to send photos (especially to an Android phone) which application is best:

Whatsapp
Gmail
Viber

As someone said above, WhatsApp (and Viber probably too) uses compression to keep the file size small. It would depend on your intent. If quality is important, I would suggest using a cloud service like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive or even iCloud Photo Library to share your photos with another person. If you are just interested in sharing a snapshot and the quality is not of utmost importance then WhatsApp is fine. You will rarely notice the compression anyway, since WhatsApp only runs on smartphones.

The seller has an unlocked iPhone 6. No iCloud logged in or Find my iPhone app. does this sound Ok to purchase?

From the point of view of Activation Lock, it sounds like it. It would probably be best to do a full reset and start as new and make sure no iCloud account is asked for (and it sounds like it shouldn't be).

Now, whether or not the phone might be blacklisted on some carriers due to some issue or perhaps get blacklisted later if the seller decides to pull something and claim some insurance thing, that's a separate thing and can be harder to deal with in some ways.

The seller took lots of initiative to post the photos to me (including the box, the serial number and the receipt) and that i'm paying via Paypal.

If i found the phone to be somewhat "locked" i.e. some features are disabled and can only be unlocked by a code or a long trip to the Apple Store would you know is my money protected from such "unscrupulous" traders? If i pay him £500 now will that money be on to his bank account immediately?

Please advice.

What certain features? Can't say I've heard of something like that.

What chances will i have in buying an iPhone with "restrictions" if they are fully unlocked and/or factory reset?

Talking about keyboards. I tried well-known third-party keyboards (Swiftly and Swype) on the 5C few months ago. Although i can toggle my keyboard between the ones i have installed it would seem that whenever i type it sometimes "revert" back to the original 1st-party one without me toggling it. Is there a way to "lock" the keyboard into just one type? Is the "reverting back to the normal keyboard" automatically a normal behaviour of iOS?

Re the Action Centre i could say it's almost what Quick Settings is to Android where you can toggle on & off various functions. One thing is vitally missing though: a mobile data toggle. Is there an app or widget where i can just toggle my most used settings or apps easily without going to the main Settings app?

If a phone is fully reset then there shouldn't be any Activation Lock, restrictions, or anything like that, as all those things are tied to iCloud basically, and that wouldn't be associated with the phone if it's fully reset.

The only thing that can remain is any carrier side blacklisting if the phone is reported as lost or stolen or for non-payment on account or something like that.

They keyboard reverts back to Apple's when you are entering sensitive information like passwords or credit cards or something similar. That's by design (so far) in iOS 8.

For quick settings, aside from the built-in Control Center, the best you can do is use an app like Launcher or something similar to set up some shortcuts in a widget that you can access in the Notification Center. Usually those are still not things that just do something on their own, especially for settings, but can take you directly to the particular setting page so you can change it there quicker.

Launcher sounds great but as long as it does what i needed or expected it to do i.e. a quick toggle on & off for the commonly used apps and settings that i use then that is fine for me.

As regards the keyboard would having to keep reverting back to the original Apple one be more confusing than just having a "locked" keyboard such as SwiftKey or Swype?

I understand the iPhone records in mono. Still baffles me in this 21st century. But is there an video recording/camera app that records in stereo?

Well the keyboard sticks to the last used keyboard so if you're using Swype then you'll see swype until you toggle it to another keyboard. Only switches when entering sensitive information so that a malicious (or even accidental) keyboard app can't steal your data.

Didn't actually know that the iPhone records in mono. I wonder if devs even have access to multiple microphones. Maybe, not sure.

I noticed on the Google Search app there is no "Ok Google" functionality. You still have to tap the mic icon. Is this because of the app's limitations? or iOS' limitations?

Any good alternative Gmail app? Looking for one that has swipe (to left and right) functions much like the Android Gmail app.

Regards the music player if a music is playing and if i exit it will it still play in the background? And is there a music player Stop, Pause, Play, Forward, Rewind function on the lock screen?

Fairly sure the Google Search app should support "OK Google" (unless something recently changed or got broken perhaps0: http://9to5mac.com/2013/11/05/googl...s-new-cards-handsfree-voice-search-much-more/

As far as Gmail goes, have you tried Inbox from Google or alternatively an app like Mailbox?

I haven't tried Inbox but will have a look.

What mean about "Ok Google" is the ability to speak to the app without clicking the mic button. Is this now possible?

Re: the music player does the iPhone support both 1st-party and 3rd-party music apps in terms of lock screen functionality and controls i.e. Pause, Forward, Rewind, Play?

Any good Office apps out there? I have heard of Open Office or Office Suite but i dunno if they are any good. I also happen to have Office 365 subscription but id there an iOS equivalent?

Well, as far as "OK Google" goes, that's what the article seems to say about being able to use it handsfree.

As far as music, it works the same way no matter where the music comes from.

As far as office apps, there are those directly from Microsoft (like Word, Excel, etc.), those from Apple (like Pages, Numbers, etc.), those from Google (like Docs, Sheets, etc.), and various third party suits as well.
