iOS 8.4 picture quality

+1

Those photos look great. The iPhone is not a DSLR, no matter what Apple says.

Lol nobody ever said it needed to be DSLR quality, I think you guys are missing the point here. iOS 8 has upped the noise reduction making pictures look ugly as F 50% of the time you take a picture.

Unless you're blind, compare the pictures you've taken with your old 5S on iOS 7.1.2 to your current device running iOS 8.3 and tell me there isn't a big difference in quality.

Not all of us have an "old 5S" to compare with. I compare my 6+ with the 5, which had an inferior camera for all intents and purposes, and the 5 definitely isn't as good in low light.

Like I said before, there is no issue on my 8.4b2 iPhone 6+ and my eyesight is fine, thank you. To each their own. Go to an Apple Store and complain there if you're still not happy.

Then you obviously never had an iPhone running on iOS 7.1.2 to tell the difference so plz don't say there isn't a difference.

If you did then why don't you compare your pictures taken on iOS 7.1.2 to 8 and above smh

I did.

Don't you read? smh

It's a camera on a phone...
My iphone takes good pictures and if they don't turn out, oh well. If I was serious about taking the picture I would use my Olympus DSLR.

Sorry but my 5S on 7.1.2 at the time took great pictures even in the not so good lighting conditions.

smartphones it's pointless to bring along a dedicated camera. The whole point of using my damn smartphone as my camera is so that I can share my experiences as they happen and not have to wait to upload them onto my laptop to then share it to everyone else.

I agree with you. I bought a 5S when it firstly came out, running iOS 7 right, and I was able to take some amazing photos. When I compare them with iOS 8 they don't seem be as clear. But hey I'm no expert, just more of a feeling.

A great test would be to take the same photo under each iOS and compare. But who got time for that?

Lots of people have time for that and a number of them have done so. And posted the results somewhere here (somewhere in the main iPhone forum). If you don't see the issues, fine. But others have. This is more than 1 or 2 people upset that their photo didn't turn out how they hoped. Lots of people have noticed the problem. Just because the majority of users don't zoom in enough to notice it doesn't mean it's not there. It's a very real thing. Especially if you want to crop the photo later on.

Thanks for agreeing with me, like I said, I'm not saying iOS 8 takes horrible pictures because as I've posted above, it does take great pictures most of the time.

It's just that it's nowhere near the quality of iOS 7.1.2 which is a real bummer. I just really hope Apple tones down the aggressive noise reduction with iOS 8.4 or in iOS 9.

Agree 100%

I thought, it's me only. The picture quality is very bad and if seen as 100%, it looks like a painted picture. Just horrible. Disappointing.

iOS 8.3 camera image quality is horrible. Most of the time, it takes noisy and grainy image even in clear sunny day. I can post few pictures if you want taken with 5S.

This is annoying the utter hell out of me that my iPhone 6 on 8.4 takes far inferior photos than my iPhone 5s on 7.1.2 did.. Wish I had never sold that 5S and "upgraded" to this iPhone 6..
