I, personally, don't understand this.

You have a lock screen. With the word 'lock' in it. It is to lock your phone from being used by unwanted individuals. Why on earth do you want to reply to messages on a lock screen and do other personal stuff...

But that is just me.

Well if you don't want this to happen, like a lot of other features you can disable it. But for a lot of people convenience > security.

That's why you have the option to disable it. Tons of people demanded this feature for years.

Haha sorry. I must have been really tired it was 3 am so understood wrong

Lol understandable. It did baffle me.

I experience the same.
I did a restore and an install. Both times I have the same issues on the iPhone 5.
Thats why all those things are options that you can select to use or not to use on the lock screen. That said, the lock part isn't there just for locking out people it's also there (primarily even) to simply lock the phone from accepting accidental unwanted input when inside your pocket or elsewhere.

Could someone please test the following:

In an imessage conversation that goes on for a longer period, will there be a possibility to view all the media that was sent back and forth? In ios7 you only saw a few photos/videos up until the point where older messages were hidden... that sucked, would love to be able to see everything that was sent back and forth with somebody else...

Yes, if you hit Details in the top right of the thread, it will allow you to scroll through the photos/videos shared in the thread by both members. I don't know how far back it goes as I didn't test it too extensively, but it was at least 6 months.

I asked about this earlier in the thread too. I'm being told you can actually delete from that screen too which is an awesome feature to have. Sending videos takes up loads of space in the SMS.DB so if you like to keep your conversation threads, you can delete those after the fact.

Turning the phone into landscape now hides the status bar. I believe this is new?

I meant the reply option only shows up when the preview is on. If the show preview is off the reply option doesn't come. It should be like tap on reply and then the message is previewed and then you can reply.

No - terrible idea, unless they add another option for it.

I don't want people to be able to read my messages when my phone is locked, no matter how inconvenient it is for me to reply using the full method.

What they should do is enable a tap on TouchID to respond (a tap not a click), only if finger is authenticated.

That's what I meant. That is the sole reason my show preview is switched off.

Quick Website Search

Apparently Safari will create a shortcut in the safari search bar to any website you search on.

For example you can type "imdb Matrix" and you will be given the option to search IMDB directly versus your selected search provider.

Settings located in Settings - Safari - Quick Website Search

For the people who don't restart their phones very often...

"Touch ID requires your passcode ager 48 hours"

Just got that message. I was already annoyed about having to type it in every time I restart! I wish the passcode could be made optional when using Touch ID.

Is it still like this in the GM?

Not sure where to post this but Find My Friends is constantly crashing in iOS 8 GM. Are we now suppose to delete the beta forms of Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Find My Friends and Find My iPhone or keep them?

Usually an update comes out in the App Store. Update to those when released, probably turn up Thursday, once the iOS 8 public release has calmed down on the servers.

VPN can be connected directly from the Settings app (OpenVPN update released 9/15/14 enables this).

It's not in the original post, so let me mention it, and add it.

You can see how many skips you have left for iTunes Radio.

Does anybody know how to use multiple devices to record health data?

I carry a work and personal iPhone. My guess is by using the same iCloud account, but will it duplicate the steps/activity count?

• In clocks app, status bar on top is now visible, showing current time, battery info, etc.

• Notes - Now syncs with iCloud and Gmail ! I think before you had to have a @me.com account. Finally I can edit notes on the computer and have it synced to the phone.
