It doesn't add a lot of new features, just a few, and it's completely unestable on my iPad Air and on my iPhone 5s

More than a beta it seems an alpha

I assume your not a developer and using this beta on your daily device. It's surprising people complain about the obvious things which is clearly written down when you accept the terms and conditions before you instal the beta.
I'm not a developer and updated my phone with ios 8 beta and been running it since with no major bugs which haven't mentioned on these threads.
I'm guessing your trolling or kidding as it seems alot of android fanboys been doing lately since iOS 8 was announced,

I've been running all of the betas since iOS 5 and this one is by far the buggiest on my 5S. Constant app crashes, animation issues, freezing and restarting. Oddly it's working alright on my iPad Air.

Threads like this remind me why Apple doesn't do public beta testing.

If you absolutely MUST run the new iOS without being a developer, it would behoof you to wait until at least beta 2 or 3, when the most obnoxious bugs have been squashed.

C'mon people. I'd swear many of you are masochists. :)

the point of a beta is so that people bitch about it loud enough about some terrible issue on the software. apple then uses a bitchometer and captures the loudest bugs. they then try to squash them.
apple <3 macrumors guys

What are you talking aboit? Except for a few of my 216 apps not working and some glitches iOS 8 beta 1 rocks! I put it on both of my daily drivers, iPad Air and iPhone 5s - no problem here! I can't stress this enough - iOS 8 is awesome and I am so psyched about this OS that I am indeed questioning my priorities! ^_^
(The same goes for yosemite which I haven't yet tested)

Did you use ios 7 b1 last year? Good lord...ios 8 b1 puts it to shame as far as stability is concerned.
Yeah my thoughts exactly. iOS 7 beta 1 was AWFUL. I mean, it royally sucked big time in terms of stability, it was virtually unusable. Any of you thinking 8 is super unstable, DON'T RESTORE FROM BACKUP! Set it up as a new phone.

If you're running iOS 8 the assumption is that you're a developer or paid for an account and are not one. But you know that you agree to an NDA and you should know that a beta is a beta. This beta one is released for developers to start revising their apps for iOS 8 and become familiar with iOS 8 APIs. This is not meant for people to try the latest and greatest and expect it to work like a GM.

iOS 8 is rock stable on every device I've tested so far. If you're experiencing crashes or issues you're most likely doing something wrong and shouldn't be using beta software anyway.

Yeah, it's not like people can have different experience with different devices and setups, especially with beta installations.

Obligatory STOP INSTALLING BETAS ON YOUR PRIMARY PHONES.

There's a reason why I don't send prerelease builds of my own software to my users. Apple doesn't release these to give you sneak peaks. They do for developers to test out our app code and iron our builds ahead of time and to collect bug reports. If you're gonna complain, and it's a valid issue, send a bug report. Stop whining on the forums about it.

Runs fine for me, except for the usual app crash or freeze at times and a few other bugs. A ot better than iOS 7 beta in terms of speed and springboard crashes.

But you guys need to understand that unlike iOS 7, iOS 8 actually implements a TON of things under the hood. iOS 7 was just a reskin with some tacked on last-minute additions.

Gotta say though it baffles me Apple can't make development cycles faster with their literally amount of resources.

Btw, I forgot to mention that what I called "rocking" earlier in this thread is NOT a clean install. Again, I have 216 apps (128GB version with ~17GB free!!) and I UPDATED (alt+update) from iOS 7, which, back when I set it up on my iPad Air, ironically was restored from a backup of iOS 7 beta 4, so I have some beta code in my system since the very first day I used my iPad Air

If you are having problems, seriously, try Reset All Settings. I feel like a broken record but it really does work and is best way to fix random glitches even when not running a beta short of Restore and setting up as new.

Thats a given. If you're testing new apps. You want as few variables causing you headaches as possible.

The beta seems more stable on A7 based devices.

This is definitely my experience. iOS 8 was so bad on my iPhone 5, I downgraded (and I'm someone who has slogged through every available iPhone beta to this point), but it's been pretty stable on my iPad Air.

iOS 8 is running pretty solid on my 4S, a bit slow.. no major issues though. Lock screen can get a bit buggy. Muisc app seems to occasionally have issues. Also, app store and iTunes store are freezing a good amount. My device has only shut down once though (which is impressive imo, iOS 7 beta 1-3 crashed like crazy). Have noticed restarting daily helps a lot; greatly improving speed and other issues.

iOS 7 B1 drained the battery like crazy. It also caused my phone to power off at random times when I happened to hop cell towers. I had to check every hour to ensure the phone was still on.

But the question in the poll is still a weird one. There is no pride to be had by releasing a beta with fewer bugs. It's a beta, it's buggy, and it's always buggy. best thing you can do if it seems like it has more bugs than other betas is submit bug report after bug report, because you probably have an edge case that hasn't received much testing yet.

iOS 8 beta has been smooth on my iPhone 5, sure theres a drain, but thats to be expected, performance wise it has been usable.

Who the heck should care unless it's the final beta?... things can be fixed. iOS 8 beta 1 is just as stable as iOS 7 beta 2-4 for me at least on my iPhone 5.
