BTW, might be a dumb question, but have you checked the "Recently Deleted" folder in the Photos app?

This folder is new to the Photos app in iOS 8, and it purportedly caches deleted photos and videos for 30 days before purging them. If you haven't cleared out this folder (hit Select, then Delete All), then I would guess that's where all your deleted videos have gone.

Android just uses that much ram ....it will reallocate it where needed. Never ran into any ram issues with any android phone with at least 2gb of ram

"Android just uses that much ram" - Yes and No. Pure Android as found on the Nexus handsets uses way less RAM then a Samsung Galaxy handset (which preloads garbage apps and touchwiz)

"it will reallocate it where needed" - That is correct. Unfortunately people obsess over free memory and feel the need to run memory managers or close all apps often not knowing it does more harm than help.

" Never ran into any ram issues with any android phone with at least 2gb of ram" - Android memory management has gotten better over the years. Today is not as bad as it was back on Android Cupcake or Ecliar where you had to manually close apps to stop the phone from lagging, stuttering or freezing.

While that is true it's still a none issue with Samsung unless you leave a lot of apps running

It's not about performance. You and I both know it will run just fine.

Some people obsess over their phones and are not comfortable with 50% of their RAM being used with nothing open so they obsessively close-all apps all day long.

These people are thinking likes its windows when it isn't . Phones these days are fine and perfect for most people

You may want to try this $.99 app called Analyzer- disk , memory and contacts. Run the secure cleanup, it cleared out 3.5g of other that shows in iTunes on my iPad mini. It's the only thing that has worked for me so far and it took 55 minutes to complete.

My other storage in iOS 8 is now up to 13GB. I have deleted all videos and ensured that anything I streamed was fully downloaded and then deleted. I have backed up and then restored.

This might be the thing that pushes me over the edge with this phone. I am off I a trip and want to take videos with me, but other is taking up all the space.

I'll take it to the shop tomorrow and if they can't help I'll take it on the trip and then return it when I get back. Really sad, but I think my iPhone journey has come to an end after 7 years.

Still love OS X though. Windows have a lot to do before I'd consider that.

If you havesny ideas then let me know.

Most of my other space is from photos and videos in my Messages app (I'm a hoarder and have photos and videos stored in there since 2007).

If you've been on iOS for a few years you could be having the same prob.

Otherwise, enjoy Android!

Thanks. But this happens all the time and I've done that 3 times since I got the iPhone 6. I can't keep doing it. I don't think it's realistic. But thank you for the tip

Did you try removing the email from the mail app (which deletes all attachments downloaded), and re-adding it? Doing that wiped out nearly a gig from other on ios.

Shhh don't tell that to the OP. He will be force-closing those apps all day long only to watch them relaunch again.

and if he buys a flagship he will give zero ****s because it will have 3gb of ram. And the only time he'll ever worry about that is if he deosnt reboot his phone once a month.

You're missing the point. This isn't about performance. It is about obsessing. even a 3GB Android phone barely ha 1.5GB free on reboot with no apps open. People obsess over that.

I had 7.2 gb being used by other. Signed out of home sharing in settings -> videos, then signed back in. (Sign out by removing username and password) All space is back. It seems videos and music apps don't clean up after themselves and is classed as other for some reason when streaming music or video
