    They will be whenever we figure out what is happening with HomeKit

    I'm super excited about this. I'm planning tu buy an Elgato Avea Light Bulp and maybe some home automation gadgets from the same brand. :cool:

    I'm still sort of disappointed HomeKit needs MFi-Certification :( (meaning the vendors need to implement an MFi-chip in their hardware for it to work with HomeKit).

    That basically renders all existing stuff useless for Homekit and closes the doors for those who build their own stuff (e.g. with a raspberry pi)

    Says so in the documents in apple's developer center, but also
    right here: https://developer.apple.com/homekit/

    They explicitly speak about mandatory encryption provided by the MFi-chip in HomeKit accessories (in this years WWDC sessions), so I guess it's a no-go if you're not in it..
