if we remember when IOS 7 released it causes a big performance hit to iPhone 4 and it was very lagy and choppy and apple kind of solved that by IOS 7.1 release so i think apple now working on optimized release that will improve 4s performance and solve a lot of bugs and ofcourse that will speedup the end devices also

the phone app become showing full screen ID but when you assign photo to a contact you find the same circle of ios 7 and that to me so uncompleted and that's and example as i found a lot of bugs like also animation of camera app on exit and others

i hope fix is in progress

Mine actually sped up with a few hours of use, I suspect ios is somehow caching the commonly used images.
Every thing is "roughly" as fast as ios 7 now.

My understanding is Apple already has a fix that they are pushing out next week. I believe it is 8.0.1
