It appears that IOS 8 still has the memory problem where if you stream a purchased iTunes movie, it causes the iPad to show less memory even if you do not actually download the movie.

I was hoping that Apple had fixed this problem. I guess the only option is to download the entire movie whenever wanting to watch it.

*Update

Apparently, there is a solution that doesn't involve reseting your device and deleting all the software.

Go to settings, video and then change the "start video at" to "beginning" instead of "where left off". That forces IOS to treat each video as a temporary one time viewing rather than caching the video until you watch it to the very end.

We shouldn't have to be trying to fix this on our own. Apple should be on top of this. If netflix can stream video without using our memory, then Apple surely can.

"Show less memory", WTF does that mean? You mean it shows less free memory, or shows that you have less physical memory?

RAM or SSD space?

I'm assuming you mean SSD? It's caches part of the movie as you watch.

It's probably assuming you're going to watch the movie since you purchased it so it pre-caches it.

If everyone could stop using "gate" that'd be great.

Memory-gate??!!!?

Is that like

Water-gate????

OMG, that is both hilarious and clever at the same time.
