iOS 8 messed up swiping capabilities?

Since I downloaded iOS 8 (not the .1 update), I haven't been able to swipe up on notifications to get rid of them, and in another app swiping left/right only works once every ten tries. Does anyone else have this problem?

Swiping to delete in Downcast (podcasting app) is very temperamental on iOS8.0.2 for me.
