Went from 8.4.1 on my 5S to 9.0.2 today. Backed up, restored to 9.0.2, activated iMessage and FaceTime, then synced back all my apps. At one point during Sync it stopped for some reason. Restarted the iPhone then syncing continued. No problems. Everything is smooth and fluid.

The only annoying thing is that syncing apps back to the phone takes FOREVER. I do not understand. Lightning port is supposed to transfer data at a decent speed, yes? Why does only 64 GB of apps take like six hours to copy? That's only like 2.3 megabits per second of data transfer rate. That's slow EVEN FOR USB 1.0! Come on Apple, you can do better than this!!!

When I did a complete restore via iTunes on my phone last week, apps were not transferred via the PC. They downloaded from the Internet just as new apps and updates do.

I believe the app-thinning process is the cause for it, even though it was bugged at the time.

Gotta be in it to win it
I noticed the same thing, the app syncing process took forever.

Now I wouldn't say 9.0.2 is flawless, but it's apples' best release since IOS 7. (Not including IOS 6 because that release is the "old guard" and had it's own issues.) There is a bit of wiggle room to improve some areas.

app "syncing" takes forever cause its not syncing anymore, apple wrecked a perfectly good feature having apps sync between itunes <-> device, ur device is download the apps 1 by 1 & installing them..

glad someone can pierce through the yearly ios sucks garbage & likes it
