Hi, I have ios 9.1 on my iphone 5s and El Capitan 10.11.1 on my macbook pro mid 2014.

I upgraded notes on both devices. However, I added a note on elcapitan mac but it is not showing up on my iphone's notes app. Both use same icloud account as well.

What's the problem here? I rarely trust apple's cloud services anyways.. Thanks!

iOS 9.1 on iPhone 6s plus, El Capitan 10.11.1 on iMac 5k mid 2015.

Works seamlessly.

Sometimes I need to wait for a while before the new note shows up, as it takes time to upload the changes to iCloud server and download to other iOS devices.

No issues here. I can create/edit/delete on either device and it syncs. It's not instant syncing but pretty quick.

iOS 9.1, iPhone 6s, OS X 10.11.1, rMBP 2012

Try disabling and re-enabling Notes in your iCloud settings on both devices and then try creating a new Note and see if it starts syncing again. If not, I'd try signing out completely and sign back in and retry creating a new note.

In iOS 9 you have to take action to update Notes to enable the new features, but I don't recall if there is a similar action needed in El Cap? If there is, then perhaps you enabled the new features on one device or the other, and if so that may be why they are not syncing.

Another possible explanation is if you have two iCloud accounts on one of your devices (you can have more than one on a single device). The "primary" iCloud account will sync just fine, but if you add a 2nd iCloud account it will not sync to other devices using that same account, even if it is the primary account on the other device. This got broken with the release of iOS 9 and not sure if it will ever be restored.

Yeah I deleted a note and then added another and all of a sudden they sync now!

It is kind of a hit or miss with me so far. Sometimes it syncs, sometimes it doesn't. It's kind of annoying, lol.

EDIT: I haven't really figured out what makes it not sync and vice versa. Like I said, hit or miss, no idea what the trigger is for the hit or the miss, haha.
