Personally, I have owned most iPhone models since the 3.
I am appalled at what iOS has become. Hate? No.

But honestly, if you're appalled, why continue? Asking, not trolling. My threshold of change is a lot lower than that.

My iPhone is my work device - can't just drop it. It has stopped being my go to device. That is now a Note 5
My iPad Mini 3 has been the best consumptive choice. Starting with iOS8 I started looking for an alternative device.
Currently evaluating a Samsung Tab S2 8".

I like the Apple hardware. The lack of decent quality and the shenanigans Apple is putting users through with the last two iOS upgrades has turned me away from Apple.

Just to unconfuse some - I have a main job and I also do consulting work.

i have an iPad Air 2 running iOS 9.1 with zero problems. As a matter of fact, I haven't had any issues with any iteration of iOS 9. I don't have any task switcher lag or stutter and am not able to recreate it following the instructions previously posted.

My brand new iPhone 6s+ on the other hand has a lot of iOS 9 bugs and still has a lot with 9.1.

It's possible because the reality shows it's possible given all kinds of people having all kinds of different complaints even with freshly restored phones (although in most cases in the real world people don't use empty restored phones) compared to other people. Yes, many things will be there the same for people, but there are also things that can be and sometimes are different for different people. You keep on wanting to know why and how they could be, which is all good an interesting, but what my point is that it can be and often enough is different (whatever the reasoning behind it might be).

I believe Apple must have some kind of "quality control" for their devices before they left factory. All hardware and software are identical to each other.

Yes, there's a possibility that some chipsets / other components that are a dog, therefore problem arises. But there won't be more than 1% in general population.

What Radon says is right. 99%++ of all devices will perform identically. Performance difference, I'd exists will be minimal.

Therefore: people who feel their device is "smooth" is either not sensitive enough to differentiate between 30FPS and 60FPS. Or live in ignorance to themselves that it is smooth.

If you feel your device is smooth, then good! Being "the one" sure makes life much more easier. Don't overthink like some of us are.

You turned on reduce motion. If you turn it off, you'll notice performance difference, right?

But that is stutters, which can be changed by several variable (Reduce motion and disable transparency, for instance).

Issues like slight delay when opening app, server side issue, failed sync, etc etc are global issue that affected everyone with devices.

Why don't you turn off your reduce motion and try to live with it for several days? or get secondhand 5s on 8.4.1 (I believe you won't, I also won't 😉 ) and live with it?

If you won't feel the difference between both devices...

...then I don't know who is sane: you or me.

I agree with you. I'm not saying no one has the right to be disappointed.
There was a lot of performance hype surrounding iOS 9 that apparently was not delivered.
I'm disappointed that my new iPhone 6s battery doesn't seem to last as long as my 6 did. It's just one of those things though, it not life changing or crippling in any way.
My response is to all the righteous indignation and sense of entitlement when things aren't perfect, especially when people are looking for problems (this statement is not aimed at you by the way).
Get over it people, it's an electronic device and I guarantee it does everything it's supposed to do, even if there is a millisecond delay once in a while.

Also, thanks for the info about your iPad. I have an iPad 4 and it is not exactly performing at its best. I considered upgrading but now I think I will just keep it for a while longer.

Don't upgrade your iPad, especially to Air, Mini 2 & 3. They are super slow!

Anyway, enjoy days away from devices. Getting new real experiences are fun (just went to new local places) 😉.

Mini 2, 3, and Air perform admirably the same.

Solution: Disable Transparency
Downside: ****ing ugly

Depends on what issues you were experiencing.

Actually, it doesn't. Apple's list has a finite amount of bug fixes mentioned specifically. My whole statement was that I could list more bug I was aware of before the release of 9.1 that went unfixed than Apple's fixes worthy of mentioning.

Apple listed 9 notable bug fixes. There are easily more than 10 bugs that have been known since 9.0 that 9.1 didn't fix.

Just a heads up about the so called settings bug, it leaves the settings at wherever you last had it. If you want it to be at the top, you have to scroll to the top before you exit it. At least it's my experience 9.1 6s+

My Air 2 is very smooth. My 6+ needs work, but there was no way I would stay on 8.4.1 for fluidity alone.

Safari alone, on iOS 9 is worth the upgrade.

If you close it out in the app switcher and reopen, it's still there.

I myself don't notice 5s control center lags horribly. After I disable transparency, play with CC, and enable transparency again, I can't "unsee"

Electronic devices are not necessarily identical. Chips coming off the line can exhibit considerable variance, and chips that are labeled and sold as part no. XXX are not all identical. Repeat that phenomenon a few hundred or even thousand times and you will get performance variations. And yet there are bugs that were fixed and those who experienced those bugs got something that is now better than what they had before. So clearly for them 9.1 had something worthwhile. OK, as pointless as this is clearly becoming, someone experiencing a black screen when any app is opened. Who is going to even pretend that everyone experiences that very thing exactly like that?
