Well, we will be gaining access to essentially like beta 3, correct? So that means we have to be gaining access within the next 2 or so weeks... Kinda disappointed... I was expecting the public beta to come alongside the developer beta 3, so yeah.

I don't know what you mean by essentially like beta 3. But everyone who gets access will receive an email directing them to the page that gives you the beta profile installer. Once installed you do the update OTA. My guess is people who already had 8.3 and 8.4 access can skip the installing the profile (since they should already have it enabled on their device) and find the update through OTA. (You won't get a prompt, you have to go into software update manually to see if the update is there.)

But then again iOS 9 might use/require a new profile as I don't know if the current one is iOS 9 and OS X Yosemite specific.

Sorry, I got tripped up and I don't know how "like" slipped in there. I was saying that the public beta 1 would essentially be developer beta 3.

Well, i'm not sure Beta 3 requires a registered UDID?!

I have a non-registered iPad, which i upgraded weeks ago through iTunes iOS 8.3 to iOS 9 beta 2. This bypasses activation for non-registered devices.

I've just gone beta 2 to beta 3 OTA, which should have totally broken my iPad, but no OTA activation on this beta!!

Thats strange?

Anyone care to try a clean restore of beta 3 and see what happens?

Oh, haha. More than likely yes, if it's released tomorrow or maybe even next week. But I think that if it's not very soon it might just come with DP4 in two weeks and be identical to that. (No sense releasing it in two weeks when DP4 is likely and having PB1 being same as DP3.)

I don't think a lot of you developers understand what Public Beta means. It's the progression of Beta to consumers, therefore there has to be an element of stability and general functionality. Coding textbooks will be updated for future students to define Public Beta releases separately from Developer Betas
There probably will be "an element of stability and general functionality" in the public beta.

I still haven't been asked/prompted to go to two-step verification yet. I just have a single sign on password.

Will I finally be asked to set this up once the beta comes out?

And will still launch broken.

Apple beta = alpha. RTM = beta.

This is Tim Cook's Apple.

Steve jobs never had any malfunctioning software. Little known fact, but Tim Cook actually invented bugs. Everything was flawless before he took over.

Aside from the predecessors to iCloud, I would agree with this. Steve did a pretty good job with running a tight ship.

With the third betas of iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan, Apple introduced a new two-factor authentication system. A support document accompanying the feature explicitly mentions that it's designed for "the public betas of iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan," suggesting public beta access to the operating systems is coming soon....../QUOTE]

Can anyone running El Capitan confirm Outlook / Office 2011 works?

Do people think the final consumer version will release in October? Same as Yosemite, and I believe Mavericks.

This has been the case ever since Mac OS X was introduced. If you can't deal with early adopter issues simply wait until the second or third update is released (v10.x.2-3).

Does anyone know if you can upgrade from Developer beta to Public beta?

Tim Cook's Apple gave you your 4.7" and 5.5" phones because Steve's Apple said that 3.5" was the perfect size.

The Site is down.

The third betas of iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan launched today, and a new document outlining a revamped two-factor authentication feature built into the operating systems suggests we may be seeing public beta availability in the very near future. A support document accompanying the two-factor authentication changes explicitly states that it's designed for "the public betas of iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan."

When Apple introduced iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 El Capitan at its Worldwide Developers Conference, the company promised that a public beta would be available beginning in July, so customers who are enrolled in Apple's public beta testing programs may not have much longer to wait to get access to the new software.

It is not clear exactly when the public beta will be seeded to customers, but the wording in the support document suggests beta testers will be receiving access to the same third betas of iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 that were seeded to developers this morning.

Public beta tests for major software releases are a relatively new feature from Apple, introduced for OS X with OS X Yosemite last year and iOS with the release of iOS 8.3 in March of 2015. iOS and Mac users can sign up for Apple's Beta Software Program on the company's dedicated beta testing site.

Strange thing happened to me. I had the 8.4 Public Beta on my iPhone. When it came out, I tried to download the regular version. It wouldn't give it to me. At one point, it said, "You already have it." The only clue I had that that might not be true was that the Music icon didn't change from red to rainbow-y. Then last night, suddenly my phone told me it was updating to 8.4, and I clicked okay. Now I have the rainbow icon. A week late. Not much else changed.

Just be warned everyone - El Capitan is working fine (at least for me !) but iOS 9 Beta 3 is making my iPhone really hot and the battery life is terrible..

So you may want to think before you download ios9 on an iPhone you rely on..
