Hello guys,

I was wondering if its ok to have iOS 9 installed on your iPhone, and use the Apple Watch without updating it to the WatchOS 2.0 Beta. I have my UDID registered under a friend developer account, I know the Watch doesn't require a UDID registration but I am just too worried to try updating it.

You know, you can easily restore your iPhone using iTunes, but you can't restore an Apple Watch if it bricks, so I wanted to enjoy using iOS 9 on my iPhone without sacrificing the Watch fun.

Before I updated my watchOS the watch actually got notifications even faster than before because I had to send myself an email for the OS to work.

How do I ensure my watch is backed up so that after my ios 9 install I can pair my watch and retain all my data.

Can't you just "update" to iOS 9 and not do a full restore? I've done that in the past with iOS 6/7/8. Then you don't have to worry about losing Watch data.

You can and should leave 1.01 IF you feel the need to install ios9.

That's what I'm doing right now. Just want to see others' experiences with watchOS 2 before updating the watch. Everything seems to be working fine so far. I unpaired before doing iOS 9 just in case.
